Shannon Grant. Always carved us. Has two medals for it too.....

David Neitz always seemed to have a hold on SOS as well. He was one forward we struggled to hold, even when we were good.

Brent Heaver and Sean Charles were recruited because they carved us up.

Shannon Grant definitely. He would always manage to kick at least 5. Grant just always looked too quick for us.

Brett Burton. Always pulls down mark of the year, or kicks some flakey goal

Are you kidding me?

Tredrea kicked 8 once but what else has he done? He's been a shadow of his former self for 3-4 years now.

And Ablett yes beat us once. Once. We always had his measure; or more precisely SOS always had his measure. The only reasons Ablett Snr kicked those goals (on Hanna in my memory) was that SOS went off with an ankle in the first or second. Having SOS deprived us of watching Carey and Ablett in full flight - and arent I glad about that!

Monfries - look he has talent but is not quick, so it annoys the hell outta me he often burns us. Carrots had a shocker against him not long ago. Hope Amry or AJ tear Angus a new one this year

With Molsey there. SOS was pretty much the only one who could hold Ablett Sr in full flight.

Correct. My memory must have been of earlier years when Harmesy took him and did a reasonably good job and always seemed to finish the match with two black eyes. It was Deano that afternoon at Waverley Park though.

I watched Ablett rip us apart in a game at the MCG in 1992 when it was pouring with rain. I think SOS must have been injured that day though, because from memory he played on Jon Dorotitch. When SOS played him, we had his measure.

As for Hellas Blue mentioning Mark Mercuri (not arguing at all with the assessment by the way)... I will say that there are hardly any better images than the anguished look on his face when he misses that goal in the 99 preliminary final though!

Have to agree with the Malcolm Blight nomination... if it wasn't for him we'd have had at least one extra flag during the 70s

The other one that comes to mind is our development coach, R Harvey would always carve us up
