With the season coming up, and people talking about how we may slide or how we might respond to the fixture we've been dealt, I think it might be a good time to post our honest opinions.

Label each game in our fixture as either WIN, LOSS, or 50/50, based on your unbiased, honest opinions. Then we can analyse.
Here's mine:

1 RICHMOND MCG- WIN
2 BRISBANE LIONS Gabba- LOSS
3 Essendon* MCG- WIN
4 ADELAIDE AAMI Stadium- LOSS
5 GEELONG CATS MCG- LOSS
6 COLLINGWOOD MCG- WIN
7 ST KILDA Etihad Stadium- LOSS
8 PORT ADELAIDE AAMI Stadium- WIN
9 HAWTHORN Etihad Stadium- 50/50
10 WEST COAST Etihad Stadium-WIN
11 MELBOURNE MCG- WIN
12 NTH MELBOURNE Etihad Stadium- WIN
13 FREMANTLE Etihad Stadium- WIN
14 BRISBANE LIONS Etihad Stadium- 50/50

18 COLLINGWOOD MCG- 50/50
19 Essendon* MCG- WIN

Reckon you're close to the mark, which gives us about 12-14 wins which is not bad I suppose but hardly Premiership material

Wonder if we will beat the Bombers this year

I can't disagree with Syd.

I'm sure it was something similar....honestly.

And the caretaker coach to ride the second half wave after Ratts gets sacked after round 7

I shouldn't joke though. The scary thing is it's feasible

I don't think so. In the first nine rounds of the season we face 5 of the teams that are certainties to be pushing for top four. Any of the clubs would find it to be a tough run, yes even Geelong, and yes, even St.Kilda. To sack Ratts on that basis would be lunacy. Why? Because as many of us say, we are not top four material yet, and therefore, we aren't up to completely matching it with some of those teams, which is no fault of Ratten's, he cannot completely control the rate at which some of our guys develop. Round 10 and onwards should see it come together for us, particularly those four rounds between 10-13. Although, that period between round 10-13 is where we definitely SHOULD NOT be losing any games. Lose any of them and then the questions of Ratten should be asked.

After we thumped them in round 8 last year, Collingwood were 3 wins and 5 losses with a percentage of 93 and sitting 11th.

By round 22 they were 4th with 15 wins and a percentage of 122.

If we struggle in the first half of the season, all is not lost if we're good enough.

with the draw we've got in the first 8 weeks you would take a 3 win 5 loss start for sure, and still be very confident about making finals. even 5th or 6th

1 RICHMOND MCG- WIN. Carlton will be missing Judd and prob Walker, Betts and Houlihan (who isn't an automatic selection now anyway IMO) but the Tigers will be without Foley (isn't he injured), Cotchin coming off an easy preseason to prevent him from breaking down, and a massive loss of
experience from a side that beat a tanking Melbourne AFTER THE SIRIEN. Nothing to fear here

2 BRISBANE LIONS Gabba- LOSS. It will be interesting to see how Brown/Fev mix, esp early on. Fev may disrupt the dynamics of the side, but I expect a loss here.

3 Essendon* MCG- WIN. Crap midfield (esp after loosing Lovett who constantly killed us with his pace), solid but developing defence (much like ours) and no forward line (lmfao @ Gumby, Williams and Neagle kicking a winning score)

4 ADELAIDE AAMI Stadium- LOSS. will be a strong team this year IMO

5 GEELONG CATS MCG- LOSS. Still too string

6 COLLINGWOOD MCG- LOSS. Unfortunately I can't see Carlton getting over the Pies this year

7 ST KILDA Etihad Stadium- LOSS. Still too strong

8 PORT ADELAIDE AAMI Stadium- WIN. Will be rebuilding.

9 HAWTHORN Etihad Stadium- LOSS. Very strong forward line, decent midfield. Their defence will be pathetic, but I don't think we will be able to outscore them.

10 WEST COAST Etihad Stadium-WIN. Still rebuilding and they will be playing away from home.

11 MELBOURNE MCG- WIN. Rebuilding but may be closer than some think.

12 NTH MELBOURNE Etihad Stadium- WIN. Rebuilding. Pretty easy win IMO.

13 FREMANTLE Etihad Stadium- WIN. Rebuilding. They can't win away from home.

14 BRISBANE LIONS Etihad Stadium- LOSS. I hate saying 50/50 so will go with Loss. Could be a close match, but their forward line should be working well together by rd 14.

15 WESTERN BULLDOGS Etihad Stadium- LOSS. I wouldn't be surprised if we won (we seem to have the wool over the Doggies lately) but IF they are genuine top 4 contenders they will be out to win this one.

16 SYDNEY SWANS Etihad Stadium- WIN. Swans can't win away from the SCG. Loss of Jolly means they won't dominate stoppages (lmfao @ Seaby and Mumford). I think they will fall away this year, even with Bradshaw (who is entering the twilight of his career anyway)

17 WEST COAST Subiaco- WIN. We should be fighting for a finals spot and willneed to win this game.

18 COLLINGWOOD MCG- LOSS. See reference to Pies above. Slight chance the Pies may be in cruise control mode heading into finals, but doubt we could upset them (I think I just died a little inside typing that)

19 Essendon* MCG- WIN. Finals + beating the Bombers = MUST WIN game !!!!!!!!!

20 RICHMOND MCG- WIN. Will have Judd back (well and truely) which is the only thing making the rd 1 came a semi-contest.

21 GEELONG Etihad- LOSS. Still too strong, but may surprise them if they are taking things easily.

22 FREMANTLE Subiaco- WIN. We have to travel but still can't see us loosing to a rebuilding Freo.

That makes the tally 2-5 after 7 rd's but 12-10 after 22. It may be enough to scrape into the finals this year (I can see a BIG gap between the top 7 and the rest of the field). The Eagles are the other side fighting for 8th spot IMO (The Bombers have a harder draw than us and bigger losses over the season break IMO)
