Remember the Tigers did push us in the second game we played them. Post played well. Vickery was hard to match up. Only won by 20 points whilst Fevola kicked 9.

We should beat them, but I wouldn't mark it off as a definite win just yet.

Just watched that again yesti and it was a crap game....although the scoreboard said a 4 goal margin it felt like a walk in the park....

Add to that a underdone Waite, Jammo, Warnock and Austin - 4 talls who we really need to stand up.

Not to mention no Betts, no Houla and no Walker.

I heard an interesting one last night, it goes those 3 have actually been suspended for 2 games but the club has not gone public with it fearing it would effect membership sales.

Does anyone know more about this and if in fact there's any truth to the rumour? I know Walks dad is a member on this site, maybe he can confirm or deny this one.

The club reported today that they 'expect' him to play round one

:-/

Hope that isn't code for round 12

I'll go the glass half full and say the statement means, that as it stands, he'll be there round 1. Sheesh.

Marc Murphy, Jarrad Waite could play in Round 1

Quote:
CARLTON stars Marc Murphy and Jarrad Waite could both line up against Richmond in Round 1.

While neither will play in the NAB Cup, Blues coach Brett Ratten said today he expected both to be available to face the Tigers in the AFL season-opener on March 25.

Murphy is recovering from hip surgery last week, while Waite is on the comeback trail from a knee reconstruction after surgery last May.

“Jarrad and Marc will not be playing in Sydney in the NAB Cup but at this stage we expect they will be ready for the opening game of the season,” Ratten told carltonfc.com.au.

“The match practice and simulation work is really ramping up as we get closer to the start of the new season and being in the new facilities is sensational."

Ratten told the Blues website that despite some setbacks the players had worked extremely hard during the pre-season.

"We will monitor the list over the next few weeks and our priority is the opening match of the season, as it always has been since I have been coaching, so this will determine the team for the NAB Cup match."

I previously mentioned that 2010 will be a pretty ordinary year.

The reasons put forward by the posters here now explain why this will be the case.

There will be a great deal of frustration which will come from the club being unable to field the best possible team - but also knowing that we have a young developing list that is close to being able to secure a finals berth.

Fevola's departure, The boose cruise fallout, Judd's Suspension plus injuries during the season will be the factors that will cause the problems that we will soon experience.

Rival supporters will interpret this frustration as Carlton arrogance - and will be quite vocal about it.

There will be a big loss to St Kilda in round 7 that will be quite depressing because of our poor start to the season.

However, things are often always never as bad as they look or as good as they seem

The opportunities that others will have at our expense will be shortlived.

In 2011, the bile from supporters of other clubs will tone down a lot when it will no longer be possible to use our circumstances in this way.

Hey Blueman, can't you just take our team to that big spiritual tree to make things right?

I believe we can turn adversity into advantage....it's been done before......don't be surprised.

It is certainly true to say that things can be turned to advantage

Nothing is set in stone - It's all about individual and collective choices..

However I did sense that there were going to be a number of choices that would push things towards a certain set of likely outcomes.

But once the momentum is moving in a certain direction - a fair bit of collective will and discipline is needed to change things to a new and different worldline. - But it's not easy...

However, I would be very glad to see this occur despite the things that I have said

Often the reality is that effort required to turn the ship to a new direction exceed what is able to be supplied - and the original direction of travel remains unchanged..

Just a few choices can turn a season - like - brownlow booze up vs drink in moderation - Its a choice simnply made but with consequences underestimated..

I would advise people to have a philosohocal attitude towards season 2010.

Bear in mind that in the overall scheme of things - good football times for Carlton are close at hand..

Dont be too upset about any downside to 2010 - because the negatives that will be experienced this season by the players will build the character that is needed in the times that are to come.

The character that is needed to win a glorious victory is not something that is gained easily or cheaply.

Gives an opportunity for a few young guys - sad about the injury and IMO he won't be right until 1/3 into the season. He will be playing but not at optimal capacity. It will take him a while to get going and gain confidence in his hip. Generally speaking.. gives guys opportunities and these opportunities could strengthen the midfield even more.

Hey blueman - we are all like you -bluemen - unless you are one of the trolls who predict doom and gloom and tanking as the only solution  which I know you are not do not despair - whilst things dont appear promising at the moment with the start to the year we have - please understand we are no longer a one or two man show - Pagos paddock is gone and the reliance on our messiah should be seen for what it is = cream on our skinny cap down on norton - our young bucks are now are year older and wiser too boot but more importantly even bigger, leaner, meaner and more hungry after a small taste of the sweet and suculent tease of finals - They now know that it isnt a given when you are there rather its the team with the greater appetite that will succeed - Have faith we may me slightly raw but no one is going to like chewing on us becuase in 2010 we will be tough and lean and as hungry as a mad Irishman on a hunger strike determined to make his mark in history.

To all those who are worried and who listen to Blueman take heart! He maintained throughout 2005-2007 that the year we win the Premiership will be a season when outside experts think we will miss the finals. Blueman may well be bringing on his earlier prediction
