When is the poor bastard gunna cop some luck of the 'good' variety?

Life just isn't fair sometimes, dead set.

Karl Norman, Setanta O'Hailpin the floor is yours - with Thornton and Livo out long term now is a great opportunity for these two youngsters to show us what they've got.

I wouldn't go that far, it's only the end of round one. Every cloud has a silver lining, and maybe this crisis will be the opportunity a Karl Norman/Setanta O'Hailpin etc etc has been waiting for.

I reckon he crossed the path of a black cat which got a fright as Livo was opening an umbrella inside. The frightened cat gave Luke a bit of a start and he put the umbrella through a mirror then fell backwards under a ladder. Or something like that anyway.

For once Deano I agree with you

Have always had a lot of time for Livo and I thought this will be the year for the kid...

A shame, a real shame :(

How long's he out? Heard it wasn't that serious and that he nearly came back onto the ground?

Spot on Deano. Pagan mentioned both of these blokes in the after match press conference. He said Norman had been a bit unlucky to miss out today and that Setanta would be a big chance to get promoted.

Where did you hear that?

How are we going to promote Setanta? Hopefully Livo will be out less than 8 weeks. Just an ankle AFAIK.

Livo's worth to the team is evident when we're faced with the prospect of being without him.

Yep feel for Livo, he's had rotten luck.

I am somewhat encouraged by talk that he might not be that badly injured, but until I have it confirmed otherwise I'm expecting the worst I'm afraid.

Is there such a thing as a season ending ankle injury?

How long is it going to take afl.com to put up anything about the game?

Kouta said on Fox he's rolled his ankle. Not too sure how serious- hopefully not too bad.

Didn't SOS miss about a year's footy with a long-term ankle problem (in the early 90s), that he just couldn't get right?

If it is a long-term problem for Livo, then I think Cyclonus has got it right and we will miss the finals. And I don't think that's being overly pessimistic either. We'll obviously play a lot better than we did today (and I'd expect us to win next week). It's just that with 2 key position defenders down (and losing a winnable game today), then we're going to struggle to get off to a very good start to the year (don't we have 2 interstate games in our first 5?). And without a reasonable start to the year, you've got little hope of making the finals.

CONFIRMATION PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hartlett or Plemming even, outside chances.

COME ON KARL! THERE'S A REASON YOUR BADGE IS ON MY BAG... AND ITS NOT BECAUSE OF YOUR M.I.T THESIS

Hartlett got injured in the VFL today so I wouldn't think so.

IIRC on MMM they said he was walking along the boundary in the 3rd term. Can anyone confirm this, cos if that is the case it might not be that serious.

Posted that thinking it was a knee, and Livo gone for the season. Sure looked like it from the way he fell.

But still, everyone knew we needed EVERYTHING to go right to make the finals. We now have anywhere between 1/4 to 1/3 of the season without our FB and CHB, it's going to hurt our win/loss ratio badly. What's more, a team who we'll be competing with directly for one of the bottom spots in the 8 is now one up on us already.

Morell to FB, Lance to CHB, Norman in, Setanta/Waite to CHF. Do we have any other option?

Haven't read the VFL report yet. When I go there there's going to be a glowing story about Setanta dominating and how ready he is to step up next week.... here I go!
