the subject of setanta absence pops up again.

read this thread and you'll see that cork people are still divided on the issue of why he left annd will he make it. am trying to come up with a good reply to this so if anyone wants to make some points on this issue it would be good

Looks like a few boys have covered it and defended him.

First point, Bondi Beach is nowhere near Melbourne, its in Sydney

Can't say for certain, but pretty sure he 's been playing for the Bullants (our 2nd team)

He will be offered a contract after this season

He's very much on track, but he's learning a new range of skills and this team is now an improving and deeper team, his time will come it probably won't be this season. That does NOT mean he's not doing extremely well and won't make it.

First of all Kev you need to let these blokes that Bondi is about as close to Melbourne as Cork is to Paris.

The pre-season cup was our first team, so while I was a bit disappointed he didn't get a run, there is no great shame that he didn't.

Other than that it seems most people who have replied wish Setanta well.

I know I'd be gutted if Carlton lost a promising super star under similar circumstances so I can understand the possible resentment. I reckon we're still right to have faith in Santy and that he will make the Rebel fans very proud of their boy when he makes it big in the AFL.

yeah i think that a lot of people have covered the points fairly well and he will make it. Just a shame from our point of view that you had to choose a rebel ( or 2 ) to "poach"  . will try to encorporate your points into my answer to that thread at a later stage
