You beat me to it.
That makes me happier.

Me too.
Midfield/stoppages coach sounds good to me.

Yeh but but but but Lyon. NOOOOOOOOOOO

Dont want. He is just going to act like a dick when we lose. And get all prickly with the media. And make us look worse.

I really dislike his game style and I think he is too cocky.

It will end bad I reckon.

Dont shoot me. My opinion. I know you mostly love him.

If true, it suggests a more experienced senior coach - I doubt Voss will come as an assistant to a rookie coach?

HeraldSun (Tony Sheehan) reporting that Voss impressed Carlton bosses and is likely to get the senior job, unless we land Clarkson...
Also says he will bring Nigel Lappin with him.

Journos circling their bandwagons around Voss…

https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/teams/ ... c76bfcc771

Quote:
An Alastair Clarkson backflip is all that stands between Michael Voss getting the Carlton senior coaching job.

Sources have confirmed Voss is the panel’s preferred option over highly-rated Richmond assistant Adam Kingsley and Essendon* assistant Daniel Giansiracusa. The club also sounded out Tigers assistant Andrew McQualter, who is a favourite of Ross Lyon.

As he has been since David Teague was sacked, Clarkson is the ace in the pack. He will be a guest on Fox Footy’s AFL 360 on Monday night alongside Damien Hardwick…

This has FRIDAY all over it...
Clarkson repeats again on 360 that he's not interested.
Media reports this evening that Clarkson has turned us down AGAIN but we are still not giving up.
We go after him with an even BIGGER offer on Tue. (Because the media said so...)
Clarkson says no again, on Wed after letting us (and Kennett) stew overnight.
We reluctantly call Voss on Thu. Ratify on a hastily called Board meeting via Zoom on Thu evening.
We receive our email from Sayers as leaks to the media confirm that Voss is our man. On FRIDAY!!

Hmmm pros and cons about Voss. Sell it to me everyone.

I will start.

Pros
Champion midfielder
Admitted his errors
Young mids will look up to him
Will demand toughness
Seems driven and has worked on the building relationships part of coaching.

Cons

Was sacked at brissie
Crazy Vossy recruited all old players to try and buy a premiership (was it his choice? he said he was told about the fevola trade and it wasnt his choice)
Does he have any footy smarts?
What was his game style like? I cant remember now.

MY HEAD HURTS........ HOPE WE GET THIS RIGHT.

Is that an 'ITK' comment or your opinion?

Re Drewgirl's challenge:

Pros:
A born leader
Has 4-5yrs experience as a senior coach
I think he did pretty well at first up in Brisbane, before he overrated his list and went hard for Fev after which it all unravelled!
Has had ~10years as an assistant since then to better prepare himself
Brings a certain stature to the position (but this is pretty close to the first point above)
He jumped in too early after being lauded as a coach in waiting and chased by several clubs...
If Parkin, Williams and Cook are happy, I'm happy.

Cons:
Has missed out on a few senior coaching positions in the past few years (incl us at least once) - does raise some concerns if he was overlooked for others perceived to be better
I'd be concerned if we are leaning towards him just because he is considered an experienced senior coach and we are in a hurry to win the flag next year (this is what brought him undone at the Lions, amongst other things probably).
If this is Williams pulling his weight as Footy Director, over the different preferences of Parkin and/or Cook... not happy.

It's from Red Pill. The guy rarely misses.

(Mind you, it's just his opinion based on Clarko knocking us back again. Still buzz around Ross...)

And a worse winning record than Teague. Single handedly set Brisbane back for years. I think we are saving face because he is "experienced". My question, is if we get Voss, is then why did we sack Teague. Not as if we are getting an upgrade. If we were that would be alot different. Only another year to hold out for and Clarko was available.

Which is what Barass70 was alluding to yesterday. He rarely misses either.

Apparently someone from Brisbane said it was Gubby Allen who wanted to have a final tilt at the premiership to recruit Fev before everything turned to shit.
Voss said it himself, he regrets what happened between him and Bradshaw. He said the Fev trade came across his desk and he had to tell Bradshaw they may be trading him to Carlton.

In the final years of Voss coaching, most of their players were old.

We shall see. There is no guarantees about anyone. Even Clarkson. If we had to beg him and pay him $12M for 7 years and he reluctantly said yes, then that could have gone to shit as well.

I think its the relationship with the players and getting their buy in that is going to be the key here.

Not friend friend but a tough respect. The whole coaching group is going to have to move in the right direction to achieve this.

I must say it’s hilarious reading the Rumours......and at the same time we condemn journalists

If we believe the club are running a tighter ship on leaks, surely that also applies to all ‘stories’

I'm starting to think that the genuine ITK's (Barass, Red Pill, Forty3 etc) are part of the club's communication strategy, drip-feeding bits and pieces so it doesn't look like the club is sitting on its hands.

Either way, I'm preparing for a great deal of pissing and moaning.
