I share that view

Thankfully both of you aren’t a part of the decision making ,,, our playing list is already fragile and shit storm they put with this year , imagine next year

And what good assistant coaches would
Sign on knowing the heat Teague is on and only has one year to go as coach ...

Mercifully it’s over and we can all move on , and hope sayers knows what he is doing , so far , I like he doesn’t dance to media drum , he spoke with Teague , told him the issues... and then terminated him ,sayers starting well

Teague laid his bed the moment he sided with liddle

I'm sure we will hear more about that.

I still don't get it...if it is what I think it is, then its one down and one to go.

Onward & upward I guess. Whoever the new coach is, I'll support them & get on with things & get excited for next season.

Just like I've done 6 other times this century

So it is on the AFL website but not on the Carlton website.

Oh that's right, club won't bow to expectations of the media, or something like that.

I do feel sorry for Teague but let’s not do the excessive hand wringing about this that the duplicitous media are trying now
Most were basking in the ineptitude of our season and particularly our inability to prevent a run of scores against us that even the bottom teams were able to exploit
They were loving that we didn’t meet our pre-season expectations so when we do something decisive about it we are being terrible to the main actor who contributed to the underperformance

I generally like Caro but she got the Clarko thing wrong and said that the reason he didn’t come was that he was disgusted with the way Teague was treated yeah right thats why he was talking to us over the last 3 weeks and hasn’t publicly said anything about it -all we heard was from his manager saying he won’t coach in 2022

Also the handwringing amongst the other clubs about Teagues treatment is mind blowing where we know they think Carlton are soft and not up to it -is it any wonder they wanted Teague to continue

I loved Teague as a player as he always got the most out of himself.

And I was pleased when we went with him as a coach as he seemed to have the players on board and playing with a freedom we hadn’t seen in years.

But the last couple of years he’s shown next to zero ability to adapt to any sort of changes and his game day coaching is appalling with barely a move ever made in order to regain momentum in a game when it’s turned against us. And the lack of defensive system compared to 17 other clubs is so glaring it’s ridiculous.

I could cop the above if I could see some capacity to own the issues and a willingness to adapt but it’s just not there.

Add to that his public statements of the last few weeks and his manager’s bullshit and I’m actually glad to see the end of him.

Thanks for your efforts David but we need to move on.

Yep, spot on GWS. I liked what I saw when he first started. But since then theres just been nothing. NO ability to develop or adapt. The 5 goals runs were damning yet he seemed to do nothing about it. That Port game. No one would have forgiven him for stacking the backline. But what did we gte? More of the same.
Of the things David could control, I see little actual achievement.

Sorry David, but you've contributed in a large part to this

+1

That's me in a nutshell

Same here.

There's a lot of media noise but no official statement from the Club. If Teague's sacking is true, this was not a knee jerk reaction and there would have been plenty of time to have drafted a media release for members. Has the media gone too early (because they have been absolutely chomping at the bit on this story) and now they are all running with it?

I would laugh if it turns out we were just trolling the media

That happened while in caretaker mode. Remember the Lions game from 2019 where we conceded the first 6 goals?!

https://www.afl.com.au/matches/1847

Sure that was only his first match, but it turned out the problem was there right from the start. From memory we conceded a few more 5 goal+ runs in 2019 as well. That never got addressed in a meaningful way under Teague's watch.

Exactly the way he coached his first game and 50 games later same problem , goal leaks !!

He had a lot of other weaknesses also …

Looking forward to the liddle Demise hopefully … as a cherry on top with his mate Teague

All year:
"Teague's gift", "Carlton struggling under Teague", "Carlton poor defensively", "Teague will be sacked".

Now:

It was covered up by comebacks and honourable losses

Well, surprisingly we weren't the worst!

Let's wait to hear the results of the review before judging the decision.
Unlike the media.

Carlton president Luke Sayers has this morning said: "It was identified that there had been confusion associated with the game plan ... (highlighted by) an overt, consistent focus on offence at a detriment to the defensive side of our game." @AFLcomau

Speaking of five goal runs… how’s the comms strategy going.

Would love to see the full review. Summaries provided by the people being reviewed fill me with caution. Understand why they aren't providing it but gee trust with the club is low from me.

Not saying he is the right person to continue to coaching this club but the reason given in the Age for his sacking seems a bit flimsy to me. So he loses his job because of his focus on offence and confusion around the game plan. I am presuming there is a lot more to this in the actual report. Those issues could be rectified with a change in his approach and better assistants. Particularly considering he has only been there for just over 2 years. That’s if he was willing to do so.

Let’s hope Lyon doesn’t make us too defensive, which may not suit the current game due to changes in rules. Assuming Lyon is our next coach.

How do you guys know this is the right decision? Time will tell - feels like another Ratten issue where injury list claimed his job as well.

It's a shame injuries have claimed so many head coaches jobs....shortsighted as always.
