Neither can I but he knows our defensive systems. If we had to replace 1 small defender, it wouldn't be an issue but with 2 small defenders missing, they may go with a player who has experience playing with the defensive group.

That love happened when injuries were announced. Little did they realise the quality of our ins as well.

I truly believe this game is our biggest test to date.

We go in depleted but still heavily favoured against a desperate, thoroughly beaten side who have had our measure for years and the blowtorch put to them.

In the past these would be perfect ingredients for a pantsing and return to doldrums.

This game will tell us whether our young guys are actually ready to take the next step, or continue to sit back and rely on the old era to get the job done.

Not really heavily favoured.

11-6 in favour to North on the AFL website.

I think we can cover the losses of Simpson, Newman and McGovern (assuming Charlie plays). The loss of Kreuzer is a blow however I don't consider us as being 'depleted'.
Thankfully we aren't heavily favoured - actually North are favourites which I think works in our favour. If we were clear favourites then i think we would probably get ahead of ourselves and play poorly.
Anyway I'm expecting a close game between two evenly matched teams.

This is a must win game. The other lower ranked teams of this year have got off to flyers, so if we drop this one to North, you can pretty much lock in the spoon and pick 1 to the crows. We came up short in our first must win against the Suns. We simply cannot drop this one. Come on Blues!!

We might not be favoured by the bookies, but the lay of the land tells me we're considered favourites who should win, and rightly so.

I also agree that we should be able to cover our losses with the personnel on standby.

My point is that in the past these variables would've seen our team crumble and be embarrassed. This can't happen anymore, and Sunday will tell us a lot about how far the group has come upstairs. A repeat of the GC debacle cannot be tolerated.

Please explain. The bookies have North as favourites and the media have North as favourites. What is this 'lay of the land' you speak of???

Would it be tempting to play Levi as the primary ruck, sitting Charlie forward and bring in 3 runners instead? I can't imagine Phillips would be much use against Goldy, so might as well strengthen up elsewhere.

So assume Curnow, Phillips and we now know Stocker - who is the fourth? I assume that Bolton would have mentioned Schumacher if was in. Setterfield would be my bet.

Exactly that. It’s the vibe, it’s Mabo, it’s the constitution etc.

Setterfield I reckon, he's very highly rated at the club

It will be a young side (under 24) but not as young as the team we put out against Port in 2017 which included 7 teenagers and 3 20 year olds.
