Can't they just blame their recruiters?

I can see where you are coming from but I don't necessarily agree with you. As we seen on the weekend with the Pies and the Dogs, it's pretty easy for teams to make each other look bad. We just let this one slip at the eleventh hour. The response from the playing group this week will really show how affected they are by the loss as well as their faith in the coaches, this will speak the truth on the clubs unity more than anything. Hopefully this is the game that turns us around as a club, win or lose.

But as supporters we have a duty of loyalty to back the club in, especially with what we have been through and the 'real' stage we are at in our rebuild. And not to be the cause or the reason the media gets to rip shreds off us, deserved or not. Otherwise instead of us having a good development year we will have to start this process again next year with someone new, a new game plan for the players to learn (the ones that stay) and not to mention not being able to attract top talent due to the instability we've created, again.

I don't think that this applies to us as usually this type of statement is made towards players that are not really putting in maximum effort. i,e Essendon**, Melbourne, Adelaide this season.

Does anyone believe that our players are not putting in maximum effort?

Effort has always been there, just not at the right level. i.e. Today, this was the response I was talking about. If anyone has doubts on the players playing for Bolton, then surely today proves otherwise. There were a few players that had their break out game today. Gotta love SPS, McKay and Gibbons game today.

Anyone who thinks we changed the game plan would be very wrong, today was us executing better and more used to playing with each other

Nope. This week Bolts coached for his career. The change in the gameplan was blatant.

So Bolton decided today to change us from the “lose” to “win” setting?

C'mon Duke. I agree with a lot of stuff you post but your narrow minded view on this subject baffles me.

Please explain the difference today in coaching tactics apart from letting Gibbons move more into the middle, which is just a tweak in my books?

How many times did we hug the boundary line this week when it was effectively all we did last week. Today we attacked long and direct, mostly through the centre.

You could see the change in the first 4 minutes. Even Gerard Healey commented on the difference.

A few nice tweaks and a less confused playing group.

The coaches had a good week.

Not sure why you’re asking me that, given I’ve said neither of those things.

If Gerard says it then it must be true!

We played the same as last week except we were hitting our targets with improved skill levels. But the only difference that I noticed was they did chip the ball around more and taking their time to find a leading target, rather than just bombing it into the 50 all the time. And yes they did go inboard and sometimes long to do it, hardly a game plan change especially when Bolton made it very clear that the players movement from the middle to forward needed improvement and they were going to focus on it during training that week.

But don't discount for a minute the effect of Kreuzer giving our mids the attacking advantage, plus the breakout games of SPS, McKay and Gibbons.

I still can't see any signs of Bolton coaching for his career in any of the above. Maybe today is the day you need to take the blinkers off and get on board.

Not a complete game plan change but definitely some tweaks to suit the Dogs game that benefited our forwards.

This should not be seen as criticism but a big tick to the coaching group...

Agreed and to be honest like all coaches in the AFL, they do this every week. And today it worked in our favour.
