30 minutes in and Mick still hasn't admitted fault to anything....

??? Yeah. And interestingly, either have the board and the CEO. I've trawled through the internet and can't seem to find LoGuidice saying "I'm so sorry, I flowered up" anywhere.

Mick's gone, so who cares. But the others are still here and still haven't admitted fault.

Not one..
- Sorry for allowing Sticks to be president for 5 years.
- Sorry for doing shit recruiting for 15 years.
- Sorry for having shit development for 15 years.
- Sorry for breaking 7 coaches (including 5 premiership coaches).
- Sorry for pissing millions up against the wall in hiring badly, managing badly, firing badly.
- Sorry for looking like incompetent dicks in the public arena.
- Sorry for publicly announcing a rebuild after 2 rounds of the season.
- etc etc etc.

You keep focussing on Mick. I'm worried about the future of the club.

God damn that's depressing. :(

Good interview with Mick. I love how the media has a total obsession with him.. If you watch in full, and you can only take his comments at face value, Mick did his best, yes maybe pig headed and narrow minded in certain ways but 30 years of success in building clubs will do that to you. Every dog has his day.

The interview had the sound of a man who has made peace with the fact it's over, he will still support the players from the sidelines. Who knows , if he had capable management and a clear plan and sound recruits when he got to the place perhaps we could have pushed higher in 2013-14.

He held himself with a lot of class and although it didn't work out, I'd like to thank Mick for his efforts as coach. How about we leave the sensationalism, the one liners taken out of context by the media out of the picture and say thanks it didn't work out, see you later and we move on....

I'd love to see what you blokes are like if the next coach contain and we have another 2-3 years of bottom 4 finishes. Of course it will be micks bad legacy, failing to see that footy clubs aren't made up of one coach and it's a whole of club issue....

David Parkin a champion of our club himself got sacked. Very few coaches don't. Let's quit the blame game and if it's anyone we should be footing the blame it's the board for their mismanagement over 15 years and relying on it's billionaires for the numerous bailouts.

How many more straw men can this club pull out of it's hat Synners?

I wanted to believe MLG was different, cut from another cloth, says the right things, time will tell but look at the people he works with... one appointment who I do think can improve this club is SOS.

Yep, as pretty tame and harmless in the end. Not actually sure what purpose it served.

So many are quick to blame the board on here for everything - I admit they haven't been great for some time - but in fairness a lot of changes have occurred behind the scenes since MLG took charge. He deserves time to see how that will pan out.

Mick spoke well last night but he was disingenuous regarding his radio interviews prior to the sacking. He says he was not being provocative, just honest. That is BS. He wanted to be sacked. He was not interested in coaching without a future. Just admit it.

Mick suggested if the board had told him it would not re-contract him then he would have coached out the year. I have no doubt this is untrue as well. He could have waited two weeks and found it if this was the case.

Also didn't like his contention that he knew he was gone when Trigg and MLG came in because they wouldn't extend his contract. What about showing progress, fulfilling contractual obligations, actually doing your job? If Mick had us competitive this year he would have been re-signed. No question. We have been diabolical but he took no responsibility for that...

If you look at Bruce talking about recruitment last year you'll see what Mark's orders were from higher up

Yes I agree something needs to be done in that dept but I think before we look there you need to remove the board.
Now sos was on the outter since the elliot debacle but he was also a co member of the Collo board that included Bruce.
So with both Bruce and MLG with ties to fullback of the century .. They have together sent out the SOS to our next Messiah

The board has always made changes then made changes again..
This is not the first time this board has made changes or voted on policy as a collective.
But yeah this time it's different... Not!

One thing the board has not done is done inner self soul searching...

Lol.. This is a massive exercise into deception for the fatherland and using deflection.
The collaborators are crucial to help this along..
Steering debate away from root cause and into a path of deflection.
This is pretty common.. It's not a mystery how it works.. How people get manipulated by the fatherland.. It's us against them herd mentality.

Bruce McAveny just summed it up perfectly ... "the person Carlton bought in to fix their problems became their problem"

The person who bought in the problem stood down last year, with this year now attached to his legacy.

i took my nephews out for the day yesterday, and whilst watching them at the playground, who was 5 meters from me watching his grandchildren... none other than Mick Malthouse.

without hesitation i said hello and introduced myself as a carlton supporter and thanked him for his time at the club. it was obvious the subject was still quite raw but he responded by saying that "he didn't do enough and that they're just going to take time". i didn't want to interrupt his family time any longer so i just said thanks again and moved onto the swings. a couple of minutes later he walked up to me and we just started chewing the fat about our sundays.

now, i never really accepted him as a carlton person, he always seemed like an external consultant to me. and like most, i thought it was time for him to go and am enjoying the fresh air under barker. though i do strongly believe that his aggresive turn over of our list from the off season of 2013 was required, and whoever takes us forward will benefit from mick's hard work.

the whole experience left me feeling more sympathetic towards him. public mick v private mick are worlds apart, i'd heard it before, but i experienced it yesterday.
