Can someone please advise why it is important that he comes with the AFL's full endorsement.

This appointment has me befuddled and betwixed

So we don't get tarred with the salary cap breach brush......again.

He finally got Gibbs......

But seriously, how can the guy who orchestrated the Tippett affair:

A) Even be on our radar, given Carlton's history
B) Have the endorsement of the AFL?

Sounds like he's burnt out after so long at the Crows, so he's come to us for a nice cushy bank account booster. On the plus side, as has been said, he's not:

A) Mates with Sticks
B) A member of the '95 team
C) In bed with the Pratts or the Matthiesons

Id suggest we need someone with industry experience and the backing of the AFL as the focus is on getting the football side of things sorted first.

Other commercial dealings may stay with the board until our next CEO.

Not the 'outside the square' appointment we may have hoped for, but I guess we're still in a position where we feel we need to play safe.

Caro said on radio last night Sticks was the one who recommended Trigg.

Glad we went through a process. But christ it's a bad look for Carlton of all clubs to employ someone with a history of salary cap cheating (even if he took the fall for others as is apparently the case).

At least we don't have whole team of drug cheats and coaches as pushers!

We've complained in the past about the lack of process. This time there appears to have been a thorough process. And if Trigg is the recommendation. I'm prepared to trust the recommendation. At least for a while.

Personally, I want people from more professionally run clubs arriving at Carlton in positions of influence.

AFL wanted him to take the Saints job but he refused to apply for it.

Obviously we have to see how things turn out before we start bagging him or the
appointment.

However, I like some here was unimpressed due to the salary cap issue at the Crows
But it doesn't mean he's a hopeless CEO.

Also, we don't HAVE to appoint someone out of left field. Sometimes the
right person is the obvious one. Getting someone from say the FFA or NRL or
even a Nigel Smart type (alleged up and comer) isn't a guarantee of
success or that that particular person will "think outside the box".

This guys got experience and hopefully can do a good job.

Not really that high a bar to get over. "at least we aren't as bad on field as St Kilda"

35 highly credentialed applicants, including several from outside of AFL circles.

Trigg is a quality appointment. High quality business nous.

Given where we are as a club, it is vital to have AFL endorsement.

And that's what we are all missing in this! What this should say to all of us is that in football terms we are more highly regarded than St Kilda

Any update on Menzel's contract while we're at it?

The public don't even remember the Tippetgate thing anymore. Carlton's misdemeanours though, that's a whole other story.

So this guy gets done for salary cap issues. In essence he created a contract that meant that the club would get bugger all for Tippett when he wanted to leave the club???????

And we wanted this guy because...............................

Please help fill in the gaps for me
