Win the departure of Greg Swann and Sticks in June, and with Ratts and Judd already gone from their positions over the last 18 mths to 2 years, how do people think, history will judge the Swann / Kernahan / Ratten / Judd era of 2008 -2013 ?

wasted opportunity

was a terrific chance to rebuild the club from top to bottom.. change the culture and develop something which had sustainability
instead we built a sandcastle for the good clubs to come and kick over....

the last twenty years will be judged by history as the decline of what used to be considered Australias greatest sporting club...

7 stone weaklings all over the club....

I think Judd is a champion who would have been better appreciated elsewhere.

I think the club is better off now than it was before these guys assumed their roles.

However, I wholeheartedly agree that it has been a wasted opportunity. While some KPIs might be up, we're still struggling in many aspects internally and when compared with leading clubs, which is something we're not.

Should have at least made a prelim in that period.

I can rationalise disappointing performances on field more easily than I can by the board/admin.

Let's not forget, it's only since Coutts left that we discovered telecommunications does actually exist post the Y2K bug.

Players or admin, of the two groups we have right now which is more likely to have a crack at being the best in the AFL?

Scary though, huh!

Spot on, Sticks gave us some stability and got Dick Pratt onboard, but lacked the smarts and foresight needed as pres. Swann helped with off field financial stability but maybe Mickstar is right and he got too involved with footy matters. Ratts was a great player and might be a reasonable assistant but appointing him without looking seriously at anyone else or having a senior experienced man in the background was a bad, costly error and we have failed badly in drafting and development. We will never have such a good go at the draft and outside of gimme number one picks we wasted way too many picks in the ND. Little to show for those picks from late first round on and we just haven't beaten the draft with any picks. No second/ third round Hanneberry's, Parkers, etc.

Judd has been fantastic and made Ratts a better performed coach than perhaps he actually was. Only downsides to Juddy was losing JK and us making decisions on the future that didn't account for just how much Judd carried us, it made us unrealistic about the rest of the list.

Multiple high draft picks which should have put us ahead of just about everyone, along with Judd and the best FF in the game Fev. We should have had a dominant period of at elast being in prelims and GF's and maybe even win them. We should be in good shape today on par with Geelong and Hawthorn and ahead of the pies.

Our recruiting and development is bottom 4.

Stopping Collingwood getting him had to be a good thing, yeah?
