Hello. I'm 40! Born in '81. Only seen one flag I can remember, being '95 of course. Lucky enough to have gone, too.

'87 I of course have zero recollection of.

They still have time in their 20's, I feel like time's already running out for me!

Meanwhile my step-dad and his old man have basically seen most of them. His old man was at the bloodbath, among all the others! Was AT the flower' bloodbath.

Keep the faith rbb
I tell my sons that this Review and controlled implosion that Sayers has orchestrated is the best thing that's happened to Carlton in 20 years...and I truly believe it
MLG got us back being financially viable and more relevant (the PP upgrade, LaTrobe, AFLW hQ, Carlton Business groups etc.)
The money is there now to focus where it's needed...onfield operations

So the Hawks and Pies just selected 1st time Coaches. I haven’t heard much fall out from that.

Why should Carlton be different.

Why would a Kingsley or Yze be any worse that those other 2?

Paddy stop falling for the media beat up FFS!

Regards Cazzesman

We are Carlton and the media won’t give us the same patience , the moment Carlton announced this re build 6 years ago , the whole competition including the media have been laughing at us and they won’t give any new coach a breather at the blues and the damage on this group over the last 5 years

They need a experienced football dept including a strong footy director , experienced footy manager plus ceo and a experienced successful , strong in the media and tough on the players type coach ...

This is the the most important signing in our clubs history since David Parkin came in 1981 ...

We are witnessing a significant moment in our footy club , make no mistake about this

No mistakes can be afforded, ,,,,

Collingwood was a laughing stock until 1990 (Collingwobbles).
Geelong was a perennial laughing stock (handbags) until 2007.
Richmond was a laughing stock until 2017 (Ninthmond).

If we want the industry, incl media, off our backs, we need to get serious on and off the field.

I’m not sure the first two comparisons are valid, there’s a huge difference between being derided for constantly losing finals and being derided for constantly winning the wooden spoon.

Fair point.
But then I could point to Brisbane/Fitzroy, Swans, Melbourne, Bulldogs and StK to a certain degree. And even Hawthorn was a basket case mid-90s to mid-2000s (hence the line in the sand game).
The point is, a bit of grit and on-field success can turn perceptions around. But we have to get it done on the field, for a sustained period.
Only recently did Melbourne begin to earn some respect after winning several close games against the other top teams earlier in the year.

Awesome stuff by Sayers.
He's setting the tone for the club now.

Nope. You have it mixed with someone else.

I thought Liddle was a sound commercial operator - still think he is very good.

This should shut down all the Chicken Littles who complained their lovechild Teague was the only sacrificial lamb in this whole rejig (forgetting three other assistant coaches, half the board and a new president) but you just know it won't.

Lloyd will be next...but nah, this new same old board is incompetent and don't know what they're doing and aren't willing to make any changes to the board or to the staff or to the administration

Poor Teague, all alone and the sole target of this external independent review

Seems like Liddle backed Sayers into a corner and Sayers had the balls to make the call.

Let's hope it was the right one!

The guy was a membership manager at the Tiges.

Did that job for us too.

Not sure what else he’s achieved but from the outside it looks like a Peter Principle appointment.

Writing has been on the wall for Liddle for weeks now
Sayers making proactive moves to move on those contributing to the poor performance
Hoping this means Cook is coming

It is common practice within the business world, for new leadership to bring in those they know can do the job. I would expect Sayers to stamp his authority by bringing in his team! Whomever they are. We will know in 3-4 years if they are successful.

Common practice - just no.

Resignations are common but sackings....nope.

Sackings are not common without sound reasons or Fair Work would be right up your ass even at executive level.

If they have reached KPI's there are no reasons to sack.

You're still exhausting.
