Question to Sydney TC'ers - is there a train/bus service from Central direct to ANZ? How long do they take?

Sounds like some are direct, some you change at Lidcombe

On game day it should be around 30 mins, possibly a bit under.

On game day, special event trains leave Central every 10 minutes or so to Olympic Park. It takes about 15-20 minutes from Central Station. 1 train service, stops at Strathfield (and sometimes Redfern) to pick up passengers.

Trains leave after the game too every 10 minutes or so to Central via Strathfield (and sometimes Redfern).

so, you can catch the ferry from circular quay to homebush..is it far from there to the stadium?
would be a nice way to do it.

on the other hand, anyone know if we'll be able to watch at PP?

I got the ferry out that way for soundwave - from darling harbour.

it's a slow way to go, but plesant. We went to a mates house for a few pre drinks and it was a good 5 min drive to the stadium.

not sure if there was a closer ferry stop to the stadium than where we got off (I can't remember one), but it would be a pretty big walk i'd imagine (30min +?).

shame the club isn't organising a booze cruise. i've heard they are a lot of fun

Thinking of doing a road trip with a few mates. What's average driving time from Melbourne? Haven't drive to Sydney for years.

An easy 10 hours if you minimise stops and share the driving.

I've never actually driven Melbourne–Sydney, but have done Canberra–Melbourne several times and do Canberra–Sydney a few times every year.

Canberra to Homebush, with a good run would be about 2 hours 45. So that would be about the same from Yass, no more than 3 hours anyway.

Melbourne–Yass should be comfortably doable in under 7 hours, it's only a touch over 600kms.

Google says it should only take you 8 and a half hours for the whole trip. http://goo.gl/maps/o2gsB

If you are just going up for the game and not doing any site seeing etc and you just want to do a hit and run raid - the best option from Melbourne is to drive to Parramatta, you save at least an extra half an hour to 45 minutes rather than driving right into Sydney.

And its about the same travel time by public transport from Parramatta to Homebush.

You leave Parramatta around 10am on the Sunday morning you should be back in Melbourne by around 7pm.

Tired but hopefully happy.

We're doing the hit and run from Canberra. Up and back that night. Luckily not me driving!

yeah, they say there is a bus that takes you from the ferry wharf. I could also just catch the train at circular quay. less romantic though. i think I'd have to change trains though?

For anyone wanting to drive up:
http://goo.gl/maps/DTqN1
(as Agro said, best to avoid the CBD altogether and just follow the Hume, unless of course you want to do some sightseeing)

For flights:
http://www.webjet.com.au
Flights up are horrendously priced, but there seem to be some cheap(er) flights back

Flying up if there's more than one of you (i.e. kids) makes the cost horrendous. Simply can't justify it.

Considered driving but my two potential co-drivers pulled the pin. Not doing it solo with a 9yo. He's good company but a crappy driver.

TV it is.

Yes, you must change trains at Central. The Olympic Park services are a special route that leave from the intercity platforms.

Going up friday and back monday on frequent flyers!

Staying in darling harbour with the wife and two kids. My 2 yo daughters first game - hopefully it is memorable.

Have hired a car - so will probably drive to the ground - how is the parking at the ground if anyone knows?

A win will certainly make the drive home a bit easier!
