Met him a few times in the past 18 months and it was an honour. True Carlton man and was all class. RIP.

You'd have thought they would have acknowledged his passing by now. Instead they're still trying to flog a game-worn Barnaby French jumper.

A gentle and kind man who would always offer his time to talk about Carlton. I remember sitting with him at a hotel going through his football scrapbook and photo albums a few years ago for a Blueseum article (celebrating his 50 years of support to the Club) - a great collection and a man who loved the CFC.

Very sad day for Carlton with Chris Pavlou's passing however his son Anthony and family organized a fantastic farewell for him.

It is sad that Carlton is now run by people such as Barham and Swan that don't care or want to care about the significant contribution that this man made to our club. These men will leave Carlton with fat wallets and move onto the next club. While we will be members for life and beyond. They should have listened and done more to celebrate Chris Pavlou's contribution while he was still alive.

Kernahan stop avoiding conflict: you need to stand up to these employees before they ruin the fabric of this football club.

Not sure were this is going but I have been invovled in a local club for a very long time and have done plenty for it on and off the field.
I have a life membership which is great and when I die all I expect is that some of the people I met and made friends with at the club might go to the funeral.
If you do things for a club expecting something in return then maybe you are doing it for the wrong reason.
A club owes you nothing, you owe everything to the club.

A club is only a club in so far as the make up of its people/members are concerned.

As far as my membership of my local football club - I contribute in so far as I want my son to play with a good local junior club, I made friendships with like minded parents and didnt mind rolling up my sleeves to coach, bbq sausages, make coffee  , run water, run boundaries etc etc etc for 10 years, I didnt expect anything in return nor should I have expected it.

The Carlton Football Club yes is more a corporate entity with an executive running its day to day operations - the CEO, Departmental Managers etc dont really know the Chris Pavlou's, Bert Deacon's, Newton Chandlers and great past player's and administrators, and as the Administrators of the club change the past contributions of volunteers etc are forgotten.

However the Board Members should know these people and really they should make more of an effort to ensure that the Club honour those who have made some contribution to this club.

I dont know what they could have done in Chris Pavlou's case for instance - and it would be wrong to presume what the family wanted.

But perhaps the Board should put into place some administrative function with the Communications Managers responsibility to ensure that past great players, administrators or contributors to the club are recognised properly in line with theirs and their family's wishes.

you owe the club? the club doesn't exist without people.
some people are doing it tough.
some people could do something different to make things easier for their family.

why does anyone owe the club and the club does not owe them?

remember the club is its people.

its a community!

we are not Aztecs sacrificing heads and ripping out hearts so the Carlton sun high priest can make it dawn tomorrow

we are meant to be intelligent, rounded people with a multi faceted life.

good luck to you if you owe the club and the club owes you nothing. lol

Tony DeBolfo wrote a fantastic tribute to Chirs on the clubs website so I am not sure how you can say the club has not honoured his contribution to the club?

The club owes you nothing, you owe the club everything.

Tony gets paid to write all kinds of fluff pieces about all kinds of stuff.

its a job.

on the other hand Chris played for the club he coached at the club and he brought back ex players to the club and made them feel like they belong to a community.

so Tony fluff piece does not equate to what is decent and how a community takes case of its own.

no?
