It's a massive waste of money and talent.

An albatross around the AFLs neck every week it survives.

The A league got it right when they let teams that don't have a future, fail. The AFL will prop this farce up for decades and it will never be profitable.

..there is no market there, no demand.

One big orange wasteland.

We won't be moving to the G unfortunately. Pretty much the same setup as previous deal chance of one more extra home game at the G

How much money do you have Synners because Im prepared to back myself.
As soon as GWS start winning and become a flag threat they will pack the joint out

whats "packing the joint out" mean exactly?

define things....lets not leave these claims undefined....

Winning effect - Port Adelaide Last 3 years

year Members Ladder average attendance
2012 37,627 Increase 1,003 14 19,911 Decrease 3,155
2013 41,010 Increase 3,383 7 26,915 Increase 7,004
2014 55,012 Increase 14,002 42,930 Increase 16020

Now you can spruik all you like and say winning has no bearing on crowds but then try explain these figures
you would have to be plain dumb not to realise people jump on board winners and jump off losers
History of sport in Australia is littered with the flavour of the month sports that have attracted big numbers when winning and they dramatically drop off when losing
Moto GP when doohan and Gardiner were all the rage - never here of it now
Rugby Union when Wallibies were dominating
rugby League supporters jump on and off bandwagons like there is no tomorrow - when I came here in 82 you were hard pressed to find someone who didn't support Parramatta by the time 89 rolled along they were all following Penrith - then Newcastle and so on
So many of them - Sydney Kings - Sydney Fc - Swifts - Swans etc etc

The exact same thing will happen to GWS - they currently have over 13000 members it took Carlton 130 years of existence to reach that level GWS have been in the comp and the bottom of the ladder for 3 years

simple Moto - Win and they will come

Which has been handled relatively well on-field by the team so far in 2014...

Etihad win/loss YTD = 5/2

MCG win/loss YTD = 1/6

^^THIS^^

Being selfish I 100% agree as I live in the northern suburbs

What shits me after night games at the G is that the Craigeeburn train never matches up with the trains coming from Jolimont. Always have to wait 20-25 minutes for the next one

SB, Ports crowds have gone up because of where they are playing, GWS is a complete waste of money (and talent).

Plus have you see where Spotless Stadium is? Sheesh, it's like a return to Waverley Park.

Carlton, soon to be released from an unpopular 10-year venue contract, appears to have pulled off its wish of playing more games at the MCG – and fewer at Etihad Stadium – from next season.

While the Blues are set to post a financial loss after a disappointing 2014, the club has also managed to clear the debt it has owed the AFL since 2003 when it was on its knees and received a $1.5 million loan.
