I raised this after round 16 and we haven't fared much better since.

Over the last 7 rounds of football (ie Kangaroos onwards), we have scored a total of 9 first Qtr goals...........an absolutely dreadful 'trend'.

It would a terrific wake up call for us to miss the finals at the expense of the Demons.....perhaps the youngest side of all. And with 3 winnable games over the last 4 for them they may well do it.

Damning isn't it! 2-5 over the last 7 games.

God I hope we get off to a good start this week.

We had 3 scoring shots in a half on Saturday. Forget the historical trend, 3 shots in the most recent game ..... in a half

That's probably why he was so aggro after the game, he couldn't say "Well you know we led the inside 50s and left foot kicks from the back pocket travelling 20 metres or more so we weren't doing too badly".

We're doooooooomed!

Any other week I would have said it shows a complete lack of intensity relative to the opposition, but truth be told, it qualifies as our second best quarter of the game under that criteria. In my opinion, it was our best quarter. We had a dip. We weren't getting too many on the board, but neither were they. We worked harder for longer in that quarter than any other for the match.

That was an improvement, however minuscule. The rest was utterly woeful.

Agreed it was their pressure over the course of the first quarter which spooked us and had us waving the white flag soon after

Ratts would love my 6yo, does this all the time. He remembered that we kicked 57 points against the Filth and when he saw that the Roos were on 56 points against the Dogs (albeit with plenty of time left) he observed that Carlton would have beaten them.

Too true. I turned to my mate halfway through the first and said our boys were trying hard but wouldn't be able to withstand that type of pressure for too much longer. My prediction was that we'd fold halfway through the second. It came even quicker than that!!

We have to go back to 1924 when we had our lowest scoring shots in a half.... Read that in a the papers somewhere...
