Well, I thought it was funny to well done BH. If it weren't so true, it'd be even funnier.
Effes post just proves it.

pathetic... they will be mentioning houlihan and walker until the end of days in any unrelated article they can. I was as dissapointed as most with our drinking shenanigans prior to christmas, I guess I expect more from our players. But in the scheme of things its nothing to bashing a taxi driver. (or allegedely raping someone). Yet we seem to have much more media on our discrepancies than these other events. I know there are certain things they cannot cover as they are still before the courts and all...but ffs.

Can someone please point me in the direction of a recent good news media story about our club? Seriously.. I really need to see one.

Check out the latest pearler, that is supposed to be about Brisbane's Brendan Fevola but turns into an article about the booze cruise we have heard about a million times!

Quote:
BRENDAN Fevola is free to attend this year's Brownlow Medal count.

Crown chiefs yesterday confirmed a withdrawal of licence order had not been imposed on the Brisbane Lions forward for his Brownlow night of shame last year.

But Fevola's former Carlton teammates Ryan Houlihan and Andrew Walker were not so lucky.

Both have been blacklisted indefinitely from the casino for their early-morning dust-up with casino security after the club's infamous Christmas booze cruise on the Yarra River.

Pathetic...

I expect to see this from them in 2012....

"Walker, the 2012 brownlow medalist was crucial in Carltons smashing win of Essendon* in the this years Grand Final. Unanimously earning him the Norm Smith medal. Although Betts with 5 decisive goals was also in contention. Both were involved in a pre-christmas booze up in 2009.... blah blah blah... "

Is there some way we can actually submit a formal complaint about the Herald Sun? An ombudsman, or another form of independent oversight that can give them a solid head kicking for excessively biased coverage?

Not sure about a formal complaint, but perhaps an email/letter written to them on behalf of TalkingCarlton or whichever members choose to have their names on the letter could do the job. If we got enough members on here to do it, then surely the Herald Sun could see that it cannot be good for their PR.

Why would you bother? They won't change for a few moaning Carlton readers who are largely insignificant to their readership. Besides, their editorial approach sells newspapers.

End of story.

Well, I wouldn't say insignificant. We are one of the 'big 3' clubs with one of the largest fanbases, and one of the largest membership counts in the game. That equates to thousands, and if thousands of people aren't happy with the approach they're taking, then they could forsee that they could potentially lose as many readers.

But I suppose they still wouldn't change.

I wouldn't be in a hurry about lodging a complain to the Herald Sun...*snip*

Don't waste your time complaining. I just cancelled my home delivery. I did not want to spend my money on something so scummy. There is a difference between low brow and just plain grubby, and sadly that's what the Herald Sun Enquirer has become. But what would you expect from a News Ltd paper.

I was just going to start a new thread to announce that I have just informed by local Newsagent to stop holding the 2 daily copies of the HUN for the same reason.

We were going to cancel our daily delivery - but my sister actually gets it for a special deal for University Students at $20 per annum - we figure they must be losing money on that so they can continue delivering it.

We only made page 3 today.
Story about the players end of season trip to Vegas and about them re-enacting scenes from the movie "The Hangover". The best actor award went to Shaun Grigg who was set up and got married and the best supporting actor was Chris Judd who had the get the marriage annulled.

I thought the sneaky leakers at the club dissappeared?
