In the lead up to each season, I become filled with anticipation for the upcoming months of footy ahead. Along with this anticipation comes excitement, but is additionally accompanied by nerves- a feeling that had developed and blossomed during the 2002-2007 period. When the upcoming fixture becomes available, one of the first things I do is scroll down the fixture until I spot the following encounters- Essendon* (first and foremost), Collingwood, Hawthorn, and Richmond. Those are the games that I look forward to the most each year (regardless of ladder position), and 2010 is no exception. Understandably, the feeling is likely to be mutual that most of us most look forward to games against the main rivals in Essendon*, Collingwood, and to an extent, Richmond. However, I do not know what it is- matches against Hawthorn always thrill me, regardless of how badly they have beaten us over the past couple of seasons. On the other hand, 2010 is quite different in terms of my excitement for our clashes against Essendon*. I have a feeling that we will get our payback, in fact I KNOW that we will topple them and how sweet it will be. You could almost say that the match that I am most looking forward to all year is our Round 3 fixture against the Bombers under lights at the MCG. How about yourselves?
