Pros
- We gave them a 5 goal head start and almost snatched it
- We showed have substance behind the hype
- We showed, despite cheap shots to the contrary, that we are coming
- After a woeful start Bower had the better of Riewoldt
- Jamison had the better of Kosi
- AJ again showed his class
- Judd showed true guts
- Fev played a great team game
- Kruz is a gun
- Carlos did some good things

Cons
- We missed too many shots on goal
- Our goalkicking needs to be addressed
- Fev especially
- We lacked polish and clean possession at crucial times
- They ran the ball out of our defence from stoppages far too easily, far too many times
- St Kilda re a bunch of cauliflower

A gutsy effort and a fantastic game, the boys should be proud of themselves tonight

Pros:

Our defensive team were again superb. Going back to when we used to panic, I now love how we don't freak out under pressure. (Sure, we do some stupid things every now and then, but whatcha gonna do??)

Our Leadership group stood up and rectified a slow start

Browne for a special mention
Bower Ditto....

Cons:

Frees.... I'd rather get our normal run if a week like last week means we get an opening quarter like that again... I just want consistency!

Pros:

The mad Irishman proves to the keyboard warriors that he is easily in our best squad. Did some very classy things tonight. Presented well and took a couple of good grabs. He turned his opponent inside out a few times. Fault that stab pass to Fev....sublime!!!

Pauly Bower is gunna be a super star. So cool and composed under pressure.

Cons:

The loopy hadballs particularly from Carrots and Houlagan. Hot potato stuff that confirms they won't be there when we are at full strength and challenging.

Pro:

I thought the backs did really well. Far better than the forwards. If Fev and others had have kicked the rewards for the efforts put in by the backs, then we would have won by the length of the straight.

Our "no-name" backs gave their showpony "stars" a run, and broke even, for mine.

Pros:
Our % is in tack
More game time into Grigg, Carrots and Scotland
High score without Fev
Development is moving forward
No Thornton and Waite and the backline although shakey stood up reasonsably well

Cons:
Another close loss

Cons: We lost.

Pros: They're nervous, and we'll roll them in the qualifying final putting them into the Cats' half of the draw ;)

Pros:

Real attack on the ball...finals type intensity.
Didn't drop our heads after Saints got big lead
Youngsters continue to improve
Banno certainly not out of it at this level.

Cons:

Laziness cost us quite a few goals
Now boys know intensity, they will have to learn discipline
Fevola is a one-trick pony down there and it's not entirely his fault. We need to legally screen for him...he's a leading full-forward, not a one-on-one forward...lack of imagination with forward set up.
Ruckwork...they are both part-timers...we'll be better with Warnock.

Pro: we showed everybody including ourselves that the marketing slogan is spot on. We r not there yet but boy are we coming.
Really think we would have won if Juddy was not off the ground so much with the nose.
Whatever they are paying the bloke quadruple it, he is the heart and soul of the team. No amount of man love could show how much I want the Juddster, anyone who thinks he is not worth 10 times more than what we paid to secure him does not have a brain in ther head. Cannot praise him highly enough. Best leader in the competition by a country mile ... Heart as big as Pharlap!

AJ - love the kid ... shows what pride in the jumper mean by never disgracing it ... LEGEND

No passengers for the second week running ... have to be happy with that.

Thought the MC and Ratten got it alright tonight as well.

Came back after the first 5 were kicked against us ... showed intensity ... thats what we as supporters should be concerned with ... well done everyone wearing a blues juper tonight.

CONS: Had our chances and blew them.

Not devestated but we could have pinched this one.

Just really hope the boys learn from this and this is the last close loss of the year ... lets start winning these ones more often than not!

All up HAVE TO SAY GREAT EFFORT ONE WITH HEART AND INTENSITY. pLay like that every week and the finals will be a shoe in.

Play like that and a top 4 finish is on the cards ... Man I would love to play this mob again in the first week of the finals!

After tonight I think we have thier number for next time.

Agreed. And def agree it is not necessarily Fev's fault.

Other teams seem to be able to create space for their forwards much more effectively than we can. The only space Fev can find consistently is on the boundary line 40-50m out.

The big plus, though, is we are getting more from our smaller guys in front of goals. Betts and Murph are in line for best ever years in terms of goals scored.

Brave effort tonight...........
more scoring shots than the saints......
AJ is terrrific...Commetti said so...........rising star ?, Bower terrific , Irish good , Browne is the hard at player we need more of, great effort in the passage prior to Irish's last goal.
Austin did ok, we are building backline depth, perhaps Hartlett may get a run in defence in future ?
Judd = leadership. Shouldn't have come back on but did (time after time) he was gutted at the siren, he knew we nearly had them.
I think we are developing better than Geelong did 2006 and they won the flag 2007.
I liked Fev's effort and great mark in the last.

I thought we were soft 1st and 3 rd quarters, usual suspects
Not enough 1%
we didn't hit them as hard as they hit us
we need bring some mongrel to our game
would have liked Robinson in , his brave efforts would have helped in the early stages.

Pros:
- Fighting back after giving them a 5 goal start
- Youngsters in the team stepping up, ie AJ, Bower, Browne, Aussie, Hammer, Kreuz
- Stevens attack on the footy - I don't think I've ever seen him that possessed to get his hands on it
- Judd and his contested ball is just beautiful to watch
- Setanta's game was really impressive - provides a target and makes a contest up forward
- Team never gave up
- T-Bird, Waite, Walker, Warnock didn't play and are in our best 22

Cons:
- We lost
- Feeling guttered despite the great effort (so close, yet so far)
- Kicking Skills still needs work
- Overuse of handball in the middle

Pro:
Except for that God-forsaken Adelaide game, our total losing margin has been 41 points, an average of around 8pts for those 5 losses.

Con:
See above. We're losing too many close ones (although of course much better than being smashed by 100+ each week)
We still can't beat St Kilda

Pro: Gutsy team effort.
Browne, Bower and Armfield really take on the forwards and run.
Setanta's drill to Fev and goal in the last were sublime.
AJ silenced the biggest prick in the AFL
Happy with Bannister's input

Cons: Wayward goalkicking. Houlihan running around to hook the last shot
20 min of football 10 in the 1st and 10 in the third cost us the game. We need to be able to close down a side with a run-on
That missed free to Fev that was actually 3 frees in one followed by 17 frees to Riewoldt is why Grant Thmas got sacked. No commentator will no tell Geischen what a cock he is.

pro - AJ - but should have played on Motagna
Browne - just wait 2 more years and few will beat this kid.
Bower - Yep not allowed to touch St Nick and yet still did really well.
Jammo - is just Jammo
Setanta - could he be our CHF?????
It was tough and we gave as good as we got.

Con - Houla - too hot - he ran for dem hills
Fev - Does he put money of St Kilda or is he just St Kilda's bitch?

WE are a damn fine side and we will win a flag with this side ( give or take a player or 2 but not a coach or two)- wait till Kruise is 2 years on, Wait till AJ plays in the guts, wait till Houla never plays again!
