Cricket has its Shane Warne owning Cullinan and Lillee the same on Amiss, equally there are those players against us that in the defining moments whoy wished they could crawl under a rock.

I'ii start the ball rolling...

1 vote to Steven Handley. History might show some junk time goals but my focus will always be his effort in the 3rd quarter of the '95 GF when he allowed a very short Greg Williams to out mark him following a short kick in.This was followed up 5 minutes later when he tried to run around Andy McKay only to be completely embarrassed in the tackle.

2 votes to Ray Boyanich. Had the oldest player on the field plonk himself in the forward pocket and kick 6 goals against him in the 1972 GF. Nowhere to hide Ray!

And 3 votes to the Collingwood Football Team. 5 goals up just before 3 qtr time in the 1981 GF and blew it.
The insipid nature in which their seasoned players rolled over will scar them for life.

12 of them had 1 or less possessions in the last quarter. Enough said!

I know there will be more but these are some that spring to mind.

P.S an honorable mention to Warwick Capper when he got the mother of hidings at PP from Bruce Doull.

A much hyped youngster called Brian Taylor in his first game for Richmond, had the misfortune of playing on Bruce Doull. I hardly need to say it, but poor BT barely touched it on debut.

Terry Wheeler after we played the Bulldogs at PP in 1992.

The week before he proclaimed that the dogs would be premiers in '92. Days later his side were humbled by the Blues, led by a rampaging Luke O'Sullivan.

Was it David Glascott that short passed in the forward line against the bombers in the early 90's? We had the game in control and I believe Braddles called for it, ball was cut off, swept down the other end for the winning goal.

Yes it was. That was at Waverley too in 1990 or 1991, I believe.

I was behind the goals at the main scoreboard end at Waverley in 1992 when Dorotich missed that sitter vs Tigers. I couldn't believe it. From memory, he and Rohan Welsh were woefully inaccurate in the 2nd half and it cost us the victory in a close game. :banghead:

As much we all love him, I can think of a couple of SOS moments (both from '98):

* when he was kicking out from FB deep in the last quarter, when we were a few points up against Freo over in the west. The kick went out on the full, and the Freo player that took the resultant kick (Anderson?) put it through almost on the siren;

* when he took a saving mark on the last line against Essendon*, and then messed up a risky short pass to Rice, and Lucas kicked the winning goal.

He was a champion player SOS, but he certainly had his share of "ground please swallow me up" moments..

The Bummers were already in front, he needed to kick the goal to win. Another devastating moment in history.

Percy missing the ball and kicking the point post during an Army Reserve game in the late 70s.

Blight kicking it through the points and thinking it was a goal at the 'G in about 1981.

Blight missing everything with a free kick after the siren, after the point he scored on the siren (which had drawn the game) was disallowed. Arden St I think, late 70s.

Gubby Allan kicking across goal straight to Simon Beasley at the Western Oval in the mid-80s.
