Carrow talking on sports tonight (3aw). She was talking to Collo about LA and the dome and stuff, and i though i thought heard her say to Collo that the Blues were in for some good news from the AFL in regards to us getting a piority pick. the conversation then moved on to something else. Does anyone know anything else? Am i hearing what i want to hear instead of what was realy said? :?:

Probably Caro thinking we will finish bottom 4 and gain the priority pick.

was that the AFL will most likely retain the priority picks this season.

Could it be that old story of the Crows seeking compensation for a 'troubled' draft pick? Maybe we're on the ride? While we're at it, we should invent some criminal charges for Gallagher, Eccles, Peter Green, athorn, Powell and Lindsay Smith...

I think we will win more than 2 more games this year. I was hoping she ment they are giving us a special one because of the one that was taken of us in 02.I'm probably dreaming :?

Why wouldn't the AFL give us a compensation pick?

........................Oh yeah, that's right!

I suspect she was just referring to the likelihood that changes to the PP system will be delayed to next year - if that was the case, yeah, nice scoop Caro!

Or in my dreams, perhaps the AFL are going to bring forward to this year some sort of a 4 year accumulation PP system. Eg, if you win less than 25 games over 4 years, you get the PP pick. We had 3 wins in 2002, 4 wins in 2003 & 10 wins in 2004. If we win 7.5 games or less this year, we get the pick. Sounds like a good system to me.

The new system is supposed to be 11 wins over 2 years, which would make us ineligible already. No use tanking if that were to come in this year!

That is what everyone suspect will be the new PP system, but has the commission come out publicly yet & stated what the new PP system will be. As far as I am aware, they have not.

It would be unfair to change the rules mid season. A bit like changing the age limit for draftees. They need to give everybody at least 1 years warning imo.

Can't have teams tanking for nothing!

That's a classic. :)
If the current situation was not so seriously flawed, that would be hilarious.
The AFL better identify a better system soon, or fans will disappear from the game in thousands. Where you have the situation when after round 8, supporters are hoping their team loses every game for the rest of the season, there is something very, very wrong.

It's a little bit like entering a footy tipping competition & not paying up straight away. When you realise that you've got no hope of winning, you pull out & decide not to pay.

Fix it Demitriou you f*cking tool (but not 'til next year).

A bit like taking draft picks away after trade week. :|

Should've traded our first 2 picks for a gun player. Wonder what would've happened then. :D

I asked about that a while back. Apparently we weren't able to trade them. The AFL wouldn't let us or something.

Well, in 2002 we got Barnaby and pick 31 by offloading pick 18.

Traded Pick 18 for Barney and Pick 31.

I wonder who we could have got for Pick 1 and 2.
I remember hearing that every club through the kitchen sink at us to pry those two picks off of us.
