I worry about the trend towards live broadcasts against the gate. I think it makes supporter lazy and eventually you'll not get the crowds going to the game. Even here in Adelaide supporters aren't going because the games on tv are either live against the gate of only half hour delay. Football is about the crowds going to the game. It creates atmosphere. Nothing worse than an empty stadium.

Football is about maximising the revenue from TV rights

Good news about the profit however this part still worries me:

The club still has to minimise its debt and invest in its Princes Park redevelopment

Hence the moves into Africa, India and the U.S.

CH7 squeezes more ads into their delayed broadcasts so can't see them moving away from that unless the AFL extends 1/4 & 1/2 time breaks to allow for more ads (revenue) during live broadcasts.

Nice profit for the blues. Well done to all responsible. :)

You're forgetting radio too. I listened to the Triple M broadcast on Sunday and lost count of the number of plugs for Toyota Aurion and Cadbury Favourites. They squeeze more plugs in every minute of play than a room full of plumbers.
