This can't be possible can it? I know the Carlton team list of old from the old days to the early 80s could have large lists but when the draft started in 1986,the drafted players would get a Guernsey number.Matthew Penny and Haami Williams is listed with number 37 in 1993. This can't be possible either one had 23,26,32 if it wasn't retired after Meldrum,Rhys Jones and Glascott retired. There was 29 after Tuddenham got the chop?

Will look into it for you Rambo, but Haami came in the Mid-Season Draft - it is possible he took someone else's spot in the list. Haami Williams definitely wore #37.

Cool, yeah i noticed he come in the mid season draft, maybe players left the club half way through the season and their number was taken from them like Perry.

The mid season draft always kind of confused me back then, did players play for a club half way in a season and then play for another who may have struggled for their club that year.

What happen was after Matthew Penny was drafted by Carlton as a third round pick 43 in the 1993 pre season draft was allocated number 37, he was listed under this number between Round 1 and 11, but didn’t play a reserve game and stayed at Box Hill. In Round 12 Haami Williams from Geelong was listed in this number after being drafted by Carlton as a second round pick in the mid season draft at pick 19 and played 11 reserve games for 3 goals in the remainder of that season, he had also played for the Geelong reserves in their win against Carlton in Round 11.

Another example is number 40 during the 1990 season when Gerard Butts wore this number during 6 reserve games for 2 goals between Round 1 and 11 and in Round 12 and 13 it was allocated to an under 19 player in Anthony Koutoufides (who didn’t wear this number in any reserve games, but later during the season wore number 46 in 4 reserve games), after the mid season draft Carlton’s first round pick number 9 was Craig Cross an ex Richmond reserve player and was playing with the Burnie Hawks was allocated this number and played 5 reserve games for 7 goals between Round 14 and 21. In Round 22 Brett Ratten wore this number in his senior debut against Fitzroy and also used this number in his two reserve finals, including the 1990 premiership victory over Melbourne.

In Round 22 Brett Ratten wore this number in his senior debut against Fitzroy and also used this number in his two reserve finals, including the 1990 premiership victory over Melbourne.

Thanks for that info.I never knew Gerard Butts continued in 1990. I thought he must have been delisted and Brett Ratten took over. That's great info on Craig Cross getting the number.I presume he left the club after that season.

I noticed David Glascott got picked up in the Mid Season draft in 1992 did he retire and decided to continue?

The mid season draft confused the team list. It would great to find out the other players allocated numbers who never played a game but was selected in the drafts from 1987-1993. I think they part of the Carlton history, being they were drafted more then just coming from all those zones or just rolling up like the old days.

It will be nice to know a bit on Doug Smart,Andrew Herring,Darren Newton in 87,what number guernsey they had for the years they played and if they continued on same as the guys picked the years after.

In 1988 Peter Bubner,Stephen Gemmill,Dean Adams

In 1989 Glen Johnston,Chris Mulcair

In 1990 Derek Coghlan,Ben Judd,Sam Gross,Colin Corkery,Craig Hucker,Craig Cross,Darren Read

In 1991 Nick Faull,Cameron James,Danny Morgan,Mark Bouw,Paul Williams,Trevor Robinson,Anthony Mcdonald

In 1992 Cale O'keefe,Matthew Dickson,Bevan Smillie,Justin Clarkson,Leigh Snooks

In 1993 Chris Peel,Luke Rayner,Tony Plim,Darren Walsh,Chris O'Dwyer,Kevin Holmes,Christian Davidson.

1987 Simon Minton Connell and Dominic Fotia got drafted but not sure what number they had in 1987 and 1988.

Stephen Oliver drafted to play in 1988 but i think he left between 1989-1991 and come back in 1992.

1989 Michel Sexton number and Anthony Loone who had Danny Noonan 34 in 1990.

Michael James number for 1989 and 1990 as he had 10 in 1991 after Grant Povey.

Peter Doyle in the team number in 1990-1992 before he got Jamie Dunlop 24 in 1993.

Jeremy Smith number in 1990 and 1991 he had 41 in 1992.

Ben Robertson number in 1990 and 1991 as he had 50 in 1992,then 16 later.

Brendan Parker number in 1991 as Peter Sartori was still with 18.

James Cook number in 1991,1992 and 1993 as he had 18 in 1994,taking Brendan Parker number.

Michael James number in 1991.

Troy Bond number in 1993 as Scott Spalding was still with 8.
Adrian Whitehead number in 1993,did he have number 32?

It just good to know about the AFL/VFL listed players drafted who played for us even the guys who didn't make it like a lot of these guys.

Rambo, most if not all of that stuff is in the Blueseum if you know where to look. The best bet is to check the 'backlinks' function on each player's biography page - any reference to 'Squad Guernsey X' will tell you what other guernsey numbers the player was assigned.

The Blueseum has been based on 2 principles when it comes to player jumpers; 1) if they played a senior game, they are in the 'Locker Room' and 2) All wearers on record of all jumpers regardless of playing a game are in the Squad Locker Room.

For example, pick James Cook from your list below.

http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-index.php?page=James+Cook

We all remember him playing 25 games in guernsey 18 (and if you cant remember, try to get a highlights package because he could do anything and yet do the most ridiculous things ever).

Click on the top right dropdown box above the bio box, you'll see the words backlinks - this function lets you click on every page where James Cook is specifically highlighted. Theres games, finals, his Tasmania page etc. There's also squad guernsey 42 and 46. According to the Blueseum, Cook wore #42 in 1992 and 1993 and 46 in 1991.

All of the players listed in your email below should be able to be found this way. Just find their name on the 'Players' manu. This menu tracks all games played at senior level.

For the players to have never played a game, the 'Other Players' menu might help.

http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-index.php? ... er+Players

This page has alot of links to guys who never managed a senior game, including great memories such as Haami Williams, Cameron Croad and our very own President, Richard Pratt.

All of the data is provided by Stephen Williamson, Club stats guru and provider of the Blueseum 'Bible' that is the backbone of the site.
