"CHRIS Judd is no certainty to succeed Lance Whitnall as Carlton captain.

Last year's deputy Nick Stevens, Kade Simpson and at least three others will be in the mix after the club's leadership group is established in the coming weeks.

The Blues put the leadership mechanics in the players' hands when they were yesterday presented with criteria and asked to vote on a 5-4-3-2-1 basis for who they felt were best suited to the roles"

Forget about Judd, as difficult as that is, 18 year old Gibbs has all grown up hasn't he? :-D

Yep....some sanity has arrived at Carlton at long last...go Ratts !

"The Blues put the leadership mechanics in the players' hands when they were yesterday presented with criteria and asked to vote on a 5-4-3-2-1 basis for who they felt were best suited to the roles.

"We've put everyone's name up for them to vote on our leadership group and from that group we'll ultimately determine our captain," coach Brett Ratten said after a gruelling training session at Princes Park in yesterday's blistering heat.

"We're going to have a six to eight-man leadership group and I want everyone of those men to put his case forward right to the end."

The leadership group won't be announced until after the Blues return next month from a 17-day camp in South Africa, where the performances of all captaincy contenders will be monitored"

How about we vote?

I'd go:

5 Judd
4 Simpson
3 Stevens
2 Murphy
1 Walker

You cant help but be impressed by the way Ratts is leading our club forward. There's no more automatic selection rubbish because this guy did this 5 years ago. It's now stand up or shut up. It's an absoloute joy to watch and read about the proffesionalism of our club at the moment!

I'd go
5 Judd
4 Murphy
3 Stevens
2 Fevola
1 Simpson

As David Parkin said about Ratten when Ratts got the gig.

"Ratts was always the guy who was pulling my sleeve with ideas as I walked off the ground during a game"

Judd - 5
Stevens -4
Fevola-3 (Reckon will grow up with the responsibility)
Simmo-2
Murphy - 1

In all seriousness, no-one comes close to Judd. Those who think otherwise are deluding themselves.

The story so far (no surprises, really)

Judd 26
Stevens 18
Simpson 15
Murphy 12
Fevola 7
Carrazz 1
Walker 1

My voting would bring it to
Judd 28
Stevens 22
Simpson 20
Murphy 12
Fevola 10
Carrazz 2
Walker 1

Those dipshits calling Bryce a squib will look pretty silly in the not too distant future.

I thought I was the only one who thought Gibbs looked like Matt.

The question is, from those that go to training etc who has the ability to:

- say follow me, I will lead the way

- pull someones head in if needed

- football skills, smarts, respsect

- media ability

It is just that I can't see a Murphy or a Simpson telling Fev to pull his head in if needed or along those lines.

Just one example I know.

Judd is complete.

Stevens might find that it is too hard given what he he is coming back from, juggling finding form and captaining a side.

Fev is too much of a nut case (historically) to captain the club, although he does tick other boxes.

Judd for mine

Note: those that attend training might shed some light on how the Murphs and Simmo's may handle giving someone a bake on the field.

It's certainly a great position to be in considering that Lance was our last appointed Captain....hard to believe now.

You've just completly swayed me towards Judd.

Great post mate.
