I'm not eally a Dermie hater but when he talks about the Hawks he is a clown.
In the rooms after the game, he didnt get any Hawk to interview. ?Why go to the rooms if you are just going to alk yourself. Wants to protect the players??
Then he said that Hawthorn lost cos they only kicked 6 goals in the 2nd half. Did you even watch the game. You only kicked 6 in the 1st half also. Your style of play only allows you to kick a low score and try to do the same to the opposition.

Second he said that this loss was part of the learning curve for a very young team. Great point but do you forget who has the youngest list in the AFL. Thats right the team you played on the night.

And yet, somehow, I can't stay angry at him.

On a player by player basis he's pretty good at giving credit where it's due. He just shouldn't be allowed to commentate the Hawks the way Eddie shouldn't commentate the Pies.

I didn't think he 'barracked' like Eddie tends to do at Collingwood games. But every comment I recall him making concerned Hawthorn and its player and its style and its set-ups (which was very annoying). There was one occasion where it sounded like he was going to comment on the swing in momentum towards Carlton, but then he turned it into Hawthorn has lost momentum and structure because of the loss of John Barker.

Interesting when he (and Gary) were salivating over Thurgood's pass to Crawford while in mid-stride, how no mention was made of Stevens' stuffing up the obvious and simple mark which led to Thurgood's pass.

Listen to him on Collingwood games, he heaps more biased towards them than Eddie. Every free kick paid against them he questions, every one they received was deserved no matter how soft or wrong they were. He may be a nice bloke in person, but as a commentator, he is the biggest joke in the business.

One of many stupid comments Dermie made during the game:

"Carlton are one of the worst finishing teams in the league, and that stats support that"

What an idiot.

Ahhhh Dermie...

A real embarassment on the TV last night.

Compare last night's broadcasting to that of the European soccer for instance, they must be thinking how these guys commentating for the AFL make their money!!!

It wasn't Carlton who were the only 'Rabble' last night.

:?

Nice one Jar. Now, if I might assume the role of Captain Obvious for just one moment...

Dermott Brereton is a complete tool.

I agree on Dermie at Collingwood games. A real pain. I assume it's because he not only played for Collingwood for a while, but I think he also grew up barracking for them.

yeah, he was a filth fan as a kid and saw them lose all those GFs under hafey (no wonder he was angry on the field).

the whole media thing is a joke at the moment!

ch eddie shamelessly promotes filth
eddie's shameless barracking of filth when they play on friday nights
dermie providing a total dawk-centric "analysis" when he calls their games
dunstall telling everyone on fox league teams that franklin was definitely out cos he needed the break.

is there that much of a dearth of tv-friendly types that we have to see club office-bearers on our screens pretending to be impartial?

dermie one night on sen was asked a legitimate question re hawks small men (can't remember the exact question). he refused to answer, instead making some joke about john platten. GARBAGE!

these people have become over-validated, big-headed, smart-ass, wankers!

it's just out of control!

fair go guys, he goes off at times, but that is the man - all from the heart and never the head.

personally he is a terrific man make no mistake.

Would love to get a couple of you clowns or tools (as you refer to him) in front of him to repeat yourselves. At the same time why don't we bring along some of your 'best posts' demonstarting your own football passion

Listening to MMM on the way home some clown called in claiming to be a neutral supporter and said that there were more positives for Hawthorn because Carlton have an old list!

Dermie is a show-pony like he always has been. Constantly tries to predict what is going to happen in a game. "Watch for Hodge here..." and most of the time he's wrong. Likes to write us off and is rarely insightful. Actually, i dont think there are many decent special comments guys on TV. Maybe Gerard Healy is ok at times.

In my opinion i wouldnt rate Derm a top bloke. In my experience hes one of the most conceited, egotisical blokes going around who still cant come to grips with the end of his career.

And his hair shits me.
