The thing I liked best about Jazz, something he has improved on significantly this season, is his ability to never get tackled to the ground. First instinct is to get his arms free and get the hands out. I reckon I saw him get at least six away tonight with two blokes hanging off him just due to brute strength. I've waited to see him bust a game open and really own it for two years now. It was good to see.

I think it was Cazzes who first whispered "Kouta-like" about Jarrad. Great to see him arrive as a crucial player in the team. Agree Heavs about getting the arms free - he is the perfect package of pace, strength and agility. :D

Forget the commodore he is a rolls-royce for mine.

Jarrad Waite. He is the new Kouta machine. I know it is only early days, but those tackles he applied in the Fremantle game. Superb. Those goals and marks against the Hawks. Double Superb.

Go Jarrad. You are the hope for Carlton fans. Speed ... how does he chase down those players metres in front of him?

It is early days, but he has the potential.

By the way, what about Kouta's handball out of the middle while in midair and being tackled. Great Stuff.

kouta and johnson did some fanatastic work in the clearances .. they seemed to be working together as a team .. a couple of their quick handballs in the pack situation to each other were great to watch ..

and jarrad waite was very carey-like the way he was using his body in the marking contest, making sure no-one was going to spoil .. a co-incidence or has he learnt something from the king already ?

someone needed to step up to get the season going and jarrad has done his part this week ! and good on him

.. go blues ..

 Reminds me of watching Carlton v Richmond in the old Members stand with 79vintage back in 2003. After the game, in which Waite showed glimpses of his class, 79v screams to the press box ... "A Commodore hey Healy" in reference to Gerard's comments on AW during the previous week that Waite had no class.

There is no doubt that Young Vin has the potential to dominate games in the way Kouta has in the past.

I have been very critical of Waite, particularly his disposal.

Well, hats off to him last night. I was at the Dome and he was what kept us alive through an extremely ordinary first half. And not only was it his three first half goals, but his chasing, tackling and pressure on the forward line were simply sensational. He seemed to have purpose, and method.

He played a slashing game.

Well done son.

Two years ago he showed real promise and I was expecting big things and then last season he only played the second half of the season because of that stress facture he got in a bloody practice match!

His last few weeks have been fantastic and hopefully he goes on with it. He is a nightmare matchup I would think for opposition coaches because of his size and agility. His only drawback at this stage is some of his set-shot kicking but he makes some of the harder goals look easy.

One chase last night in the third quarter was terrific as he had to run about 50m from our forward line to chase Harry Miller I think it was and he almost got him. Should have a big future.
