Worried there for a second

PROS

1. Game Plan - We actually play proper 21st century football now rather than crash bang nonsense. This doesn;t mean Ratten is 'the one', it just means Pagan was a tool. We created space for leads, and played leading hit-up footy.

2. Russel - a certain poster remarked that he would never play well under Pagan's crash bang hypothesis, and that a change would help. Played the best half of his career in first half.

3. Bower - read point 2. Both 18 and 2 went a bit missing in second half but at least we saw signs.

4. Fev - I said at the time of the ruckus that trading him would be laughable. Today confirmed my thoughts. Irreplaceable unless a dream deal arose.

5. Setanta - hard not to love him. Still heaps to learn

CONS

1. The PP system - anyone who reads my posts knows I want the tank, but getting worried about the Blues playing well, and sitting at the G wanting Rocca to kick goals made me feel very unclean. Let's just lose the next 4, win the last PP ever and get it over with.

2. The slower players - Pagan's gameplan supported the slower guys (13 and 7), but I think that under this proper football style pace rules and Benticka nd Balckers will find it hard. Still a place for them atm.

3. Thorno - what's up with him?

4. They better de-list Saddington and Bannister

5. Murph's 1st half - recovered like a true champ in the 2nd half though

4 more till Kreuzer - Melbourne looking like a big worry. I say play 20 on the field and call a count.

Oh, and I keep forgetting about Fisher. Sorry Fish. Great game, one of this year's big pros.

PROS
- Kids
- Fevola (would we seriously trade him?)
- Honourable loss

CONS
- Saddington (still the weakest link)

Just back from the game. I think you boys are very hard on Saddington, he did some good work showed good leadership and was miles too small for Rocca. We need some big defenders, it's not Saddo's fault he is taking on mission impossible.

PRO PP alive
Jamieson, excellent first up effort
Thought Blackers did some really classy stuff - shot on goal (work to get it) and pass to Fev in last
Fev very good even when not getting the ball
Fish very good
Midfield hard at it
Game plan more attuned with modern footy
Jacko has got a good future
Bower starting to show something, could he be our next Kevin Hall?
Russell, showing confidence, best game for the club, and will be a fair size in a few years

CONS
Can't imagine how we can lose to the Dees
Hate to be happy thta we've lost a game in time on. I'm with mr verbeek. Let's get the PP and get back to wanting to win. Tho if we really wanted to tank we wouldn't have sacked Pagan.
Can anyone make more silly mistakes than Jarred Waite?

With this PP, can we claim to have 38 injuries and just forfeit the last 4 matches. Pros and cons the same here. Saddington was teriffic on Rocca until the last qtr. He'll stay. We have a crappy defence so at this point we have to keep him. Some players, now they're under another coach have shown they actually have some real ability, Russell and Bower are 2 examples. Anything that wants to trade Fev now should be shot.

Pros
Carazzo....keeps getting the footy
Fev....did the job
Jackson...good disposal, hss some class
Simpson....nice game
Jenna Jamison....good debut, solid skills, well done to Gavin Crosisca.
Bower..did some good things at times.
Grigg looked a bit lost but he got another game under his belt and i think he can look towards slowly building a career like Kade Simpson has done...

Special mention to Jordan Russell...9 tackles..thats we want to see..well done

Cons
Still bullied by the big KPP's down back
Houlihan was pathetic vs Thomas in a couple of marking contests.

Overall a good effort and a respectable loss with Kruezer still on the horizon...

I've just gone from listening to 2 hours of dipshits like Lyon and Frawley going on about how little we have to gain from winning this game, to seeing my fellow Carlton brethren relieved and celebrating a loss against our oldest and most hated rivals.

Yeah, I'm a bit pissed.

Our side today was fantastic - it aint about winning as much as getting games into our young side - how about a side with Bower who has 8 games Jamieson none grigg 2 - jackson 3 gibbs 16 - setanta not many more all making a contribution losing to a side perhaps in the top 4 by 24 points
We have completely changed our gamestyle in 2 weeks so even better effort
Our oldest player today was Saddington at 27
Im not a pro -tanking type of guy and was hoping we would beat the Carringbush but it was a really good effort but just fell short again -it will come
Collingwood after coming off a loss were out to prove a point and only got on top of us in the last 5 mins - we havent got players at the moment who can match up with guys the size of rocca and cloke -in the end they got a hold of us
PROS
Carrazzo - give him the John Nicholls medal and is one of the premier on ballers in the comp
FEVOLA -Fantastic - obviously gets on well with ratts
Fisher really good player at pick 72
Bower did a few stuff ups but did a few good things
Our guys all who have played under 5 games grigg jamo jackson all showed they belonged
Blackwell more composed today
Cons
the carringbush supporters who are hysterical that they beat the 14 th team

Just got back from the game. Was really happy with our effort today. We really made the filth look second rate (which is what they are in reality-we all know it).

PROS:
-Youngsters were great. Love to see them back themselves.
-Jackson, bower and Russell all had good games esp 1st halves
-Carrazo
-Fev. Surely will not be traded.
-No Pagan
-No Pagan
-No Pagan
-System in our play and purpose.
-Jamieson. Great debut.
-Why were Fev and Carrots taken off when the game was ther to be won. Was this what I think it was or were they injured... 8)

CONS:
-Losing to a dud team like the filth. They really are crap. All we needed was a ruckmen and we were comfortably over the line.
-Need big bodied defenders. However I think we can develop these types in-house thru the youngsters we already have.
-Hackland
-Bannister

All in all most would say the perfect result. Still a great game by our guys given the personnel we had out.

PROS
Carrazzo is a gun
Jamisen top debut. Knows how tp play. Great closing speed. Looks like Waite

Bower best game this year

Russell top first half

Fevola

Liked Blackwell's game

CONS

No proper second ruckman
Carlos should have played down back
Saddington, Bannister
Houlihan's chase on Thomas on the far wing
Why wasnt Thornton put on Cloke or Rocca. Were we tanking
Gibbs needs to go to the 2's to get some prune

I heard that MMM were insinuating the same thing during the last quarter

Yeah, no idea how they could've gotten that impression

(Hint: Perhaps they read TC?)

PRO OR CON - Depending on the result you were hoping for.
We lost the game at the selection table when we didn't select a back up ruckman. When Setanta went on to Rocca in the last quarter the filth moved Fraser forward which forced Setanta to match up on him. If McLaren had been in the 22, Setanta could have gone to FB.

Pros:
Fev was so sick before the game that Dyl had to make a rush trip to the ground just in case he had to drop out. Kudos to Fev for the way he performed.

Some interesting matchups by Ratts - Banno on Cloke was interesting because of Cloke's high work rate - I don't think much of Banno as a key defender but he has the tank to go with someone like Cloke - nice choice.

And how about Russell playing as an attacker - the best half of footy he has played for us and it had a lot to do with the unusual amount of space Fev had in the second half. Noof was so strong on the lead early in the game that the filth had to man him up as well as Fish, Carlos and Waite and had trouble filling the hole - good forward thinking.

Also Scotland in the midfield instead of being wasted as a defender resulted in the best ball use I have ever seen from Scotto - far fewer left foot kicks was a bonus.

Trying to get the ball rather than tagging in the centre square was also a big positive - especially to a losing ruck. Sign up Ratts NOW.
