OK, I'm hoping to solicit a loud, "Full House" style "Awwwwwwwwwwww" from the crowd here but hear me out.

Last Saturday I was happily sitting in a pub in East London, sinking down a bunch of pints and getting the scores from the Port v Us game via a combination of Telstra's score service thing and CK95.

Up until this point I did not know which was more reliable, so I hedged my bets.

As the West Ham v Milwall game drew closer, so too did the scores at Football park. Via the miracle of SMS. Was it real? Who can say. Off I went to the game.

Then , I get a very important message from Telstra: FT (ie FULL time) Carlton win by 1 pt.

Much joy and dancing in the Bobby Moore lower for no apparent reason. Don't worry, others joined in.

This joy would be broken by a text from CK along the lines of 'It's a DRAW!'.

No Joy.

Slowly, about the time Milwall went 0-1 up, and the alceehol adressed my brain on a first name basis, I realised that CK was correct (the 12 other messages from people confirmed this).

Although Marlon Harewood equalised to make it 1-1 (which, for those who care, was the final score), it was still a strange day. Often, Carlton lose on the same day that West Ham lose. Sometimes, though rarely, the Hammers and the Blues both win.

But never can I remember us both drawing on the same day.

Though this post is not as well thought out as some of the others, I'll still make my point.

Telstra.... you bastards.

I also had an interesting experience with the Telstra SMS scores service a year or so ago. I had signed up for it and had also shown my boss how to get it . He is a mad Blues supporter was due to travel to China and has just arranged global roaming on his mobile.

We sorted the Footy scores messaging service and he set off to China.

The next week we played the bulldogs and we kiched about 10 goals in the first quarter. My boss messaged me from on the Great Wall of China saying the service was going haywire as he got a quarter time score of about 10 goals to a few points. I messaged back that it was correct. It took a few messages before he believed me.

Then came the resurgence of the bullies in the second half when we fell in a hole. The boss was very sceptical when he received the final score when we limped in by 1 point.

Prez,

It's a quote from Planet Of The Apes

"YOU MANIACS. YOU BLEW IT UP. DAMN YOU. GOD DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL."

Greate quote. Right up there with "Get your stinking paws off me, you damned dirty ape."
