I agree buzz. I reckon Thomas is great on the radio, not overly critical, very constructive, and a pretty smart bloke.

Certainly left St Kilda with his dignity intact, developed a bit of respect for old cornflakes after that.

He can't coach however. Tactically he is pathetic. I would stop following footy if this bloke set footy within my club, anywhere in fact.

I am not advocating him as our next coach at all but if Brent Guerra kicked the goal from 8m out in the prelim, he may well have ended up a premiership coach.

I beileve that we need a true leader.

Either: Voss, Matthews, McKenna or Roos.

Thomas would be a great assistant.

Neil Craig...as SAblue wrote is too slow to react...just like Pagan.

Anyway he would never leave Adelaide.

If all my Xmas came at once the coaching panel would be:

Senior coach: Matthews

Assistant: Voss

Mids: Ratten + Bradley

Defence: Silvagni + Crosisca

Forward: D.Jarman

Darren Jarman was the smartest forward of the modern era.
He currently works as a PR man for the crows. An absolute waste.

Why are we even talking about our next coach - Pagan is going to lead them to flag number 17 isn't he.

Surely we haven't put up with this crap for 5 years only to punt him cause he is not good enough

Few recent examples too CB - Whosher; Roos; Mark Williams and one Denis Pagan - wonder what ever happened to him.

Pagan didn't play for the Roos did he?

Williams did play for Port, but apparently, we're not allowed to include that because apparently the SANFL is not proper footy. Woosha and Roos had already been mentioned.

I'd happily add Choco to the list, but some bloody Victorian will pipe up in protest.

Pagan will not coach us into a GF let alone a final series.

Denis is like a nice table in an antique store.

Ive always believed that Brett Ratten will be the next Carlton coach.

He would be respected and also popular with the players.

Brett would be the kind of coach that the players would bleed for.

There would be a very strong 'play for the jumper' ethic at Carlton if he got the gig.

I think he wouldn't make it as a coach, well not for us,just my opinion a graet guy and player but i'ts rare a coach that plays for a team does great coacing his old side.

Roos

Worsfold

In actual fact, Carlton has quite the record when it comes to past players coaching flags, here's a few names you may be familiar with:
Diggins
Barassi
Nicholls
Jesaleunko
Walls

Other past players to have coached their side to a premiership:
Kennedy Snr
Jeans
Hafey
Bourke
Parkin

There's 10, I gave up looking after that. ;)

I'm thinking you're Baldrick, and the words you uttered just before the above are missing: "I have a cunning plan ..."

why doesn't Pratt invest his money in finding a cure for death, so we can hire Norm Smith

The answer is pretty simple guys, and comes from within our own. Who better to coach the Blues than a guy who knows more about every aspect of football, from game day tactics, to recruitment, to injuries, than anyone else.

jimmae should be appointed coach as of this weeks game.

Just imagine how well we'd be able to exploit the fat side :-D

It has to be Pagan doesn't it - No one could have done a better job with this list than what Pagan has done

Two time premiership coaches dont grow on trees

When we have collect 7 PP 's and 7 first round selections he will give you wins you watch him

Pagans got to be the man to take us to number 17

Pratt has said you don't hire the best available, you hire the best, because the best already has a job.

I don't see Pratt going after an untried coach. I recon Pratt should look at either Roos or Worsfold, with Roos getting my vote, purely as he not only has the runs on the board, but he has moulded a team that has very little if any off field dramas.

Then he can fill the assistants role with untried but potentially gifted coaches, and thats where I see a role for Buckley.
