Just terrible - I feel sick

Whilst I know media conferences are generally to announce the worst, we shouldn't count our eggs yet so to speak. The way I see it he is currently in sydney finding out from a specialist's specialist (if that makes sense) - in other words I don't think anything would've been decided yet, and yet they have scheduled a press conference. Mind you, going to sydney to see a specialist may not be such good signs.

Hope to hell he is fine as is such an important part of our midfield, structure and team

I reckon this is a career ending thing...They have obviously found something bad- anything bad in the neck can not be good...no risks will be taken.

Hope you're ok Steve. You are a champion of a player and have always tried hard for the Carlton Footy Club. Let's hope this little setback is nothing that will stand in your way for another 150+ games for the Mighty Blues!

Having said that, I am hoping the press conference tomorrow is some kind of media stunt to say Nick is perfectly fine and will be playing next week or in a few weeks' time...don't blame me for being an optimist!

"Stevens will address the media at MC Labour Park on Thursday."

I don't like the sound of that one bit.

Stevo's well being is the number one priority.

I'd hate him to damage himself seriously on the field.

Good luck Stevo - please don't come back unless you're 100% sure you'll be ok.

Shattering news.
He was injured late last season with that neck complaint and they kept picking him when they should have bloody rested him.

Why don't we wait and see, it could be one of a few things:

- needs e.g. 6 weeks off to let inflamation settle, and can still participate in light training

- he needs the remainder of the year off and adjustments through the year to realign something that is out

- or one slight bump could be catastrophic and cause long term problems

He seemed bright enough on Monday on the show On The Couch, he never mentioned that he experienced tingling, numbness or excessive pain (that I am aware of), he seemed to move well enough against the bombers, and surely any hint or concern would have seen him cease before last weeks game.

Certainly this is a delicate area, so things can change quickly, but lets not all view the worst ( in a football sense), lets wait and see the outcome and hope the worst is a LTI and promotion of a rookie and rest and relaxation tiem for Nick to get well.

Fingers crossed and all the best.

Like Brent Tate?

You'd reckon League would be a bit more dangerous than Aussie Rules as far as neck concerns go???

You'd think so.

It depends on the injury but it might be possible for Stevens to play in a neck brace. Just a thought.

I know we don't know the extent of the injury yet but I am fearing the worst. The signs seem to the injury being something more than trivial. I hope for Nick's sake that it is only a minor injury and he can get back to playing soon but when I see it's a neck injury I fear the worst. Even if it was say a 6-week injury, would his neck really be right on returning? This is what I am worried about. But I really just can't believe this has happened! :?

Shattering news. Nick is one of our leaders at the club but his health is paramount. Let's hope it is not serious and can return during the year. In the meantime I would give him some sort of coaching role to help the youngsters along during the season. I think he has a lot to offer even from the sidelines.

I will pray for him .

I am led to believe Stevens will be out for the remainder of the year and will return in 2008
