I assumed premiership numbers got retired for at least the number of years equal to the premierships they played in. So if by some miracle we won in 07 then Kouta retired, 43 wouldn't be available until 2010 at the earliest.

I don't know the layout of the locker room, but I would give him whatever number keeps him as far away from these guys as possible.
