Best wishes for your speedy recovery Collo. Hope you are back happy and healthy with your family as soon as possible. Hope there was plenty of navy blue blood on standby if needed.

IAN COLLINS AM - UPDATE

The CEO of the Carlton Football Club, Mr Michael Malouf has spoken with Mary Collins, wife of Club President, Mr Ian Collins AM, on Ian?s progress following his triple bypass surgery yesterday.

The update on Ian's condition is that while he experienced complications following the initial surgery yesterday morning, a second operation later in the day was successful and he is expected to make a full recovery. Ian is heavily sedated in intensive care where he is expected to remain for a few days.

Yesterday was a very harrowing day for Mary and the family and thankfully the most difficult period has passed. Everyone at the Carlton Football Club is thinking of Mary and the family while wishing Ian a speedy and full recovery, Mr Malouf said.

The Club has received many messages from sponsors, members and supporters wishing Ian their best wishes, added Mr Malouf.

Collo keep up that fighting 'blues' spirit and you'll pull through with flying colours. My Dad had a triple by-pass so I know what you and your family must be going through. My thoughts are with the Collins family and we look forward to seeing you back at the helm soon.

Emergency surgery is never good news but if anyone has the toughness and resilience to get through its our Collo. Best administrator in football history. Answered the call when the club needed him. His immense contributions on the field are even dwarfed by his achievemnts in the boardroom. Tru Carlton legend. Get well big fella. You got us all in your corner.

As mentioned yesterday I plan to forward on these messages of support to the club, and hope to do so within the next 30mins.

Thanks heap Camel. Spoke to one of our Cardio reps this morning about the procedure and it's a very serious operation. Normally under these circumstances the Epworth would look at 'stenting' the patient, which involves a small tube (or tubes) being inserted into the heart to hold the artery walls open. For a triple by-pass to occur, three out of four of the main arteries must have suffered serious trauma.

Hopefully Collo makes a full recovery and chooses his life over his two careers. He's been a fantastic president for us but now it's time for him to look after himself.
