Still smiling about friday night 8) and enjoying enormously the progress of our young players.
Waite davies betts wiggins sporn carrazzo de luca all still playing cameos and whilst still making some mistakes all showing promise and all making contributions
Im a big fan of sporn but he has been a little down in the first two games but will bounce back
Simpson and norman whilst perhaps still on the fringe also show promise.
Eventually those young players will play consistently and we will be a better side.
Not a bad sign for our long term future if you think our best 2 young players walker and thorton are out of the side and another former rising star fisher is on the sidelines along with livo.Bannister who I think was unlucky to get dropped is also promising

Agreed Frank. I'm looking forward to seeing the likes of Waite, Walker, Thornton, Carazzo, among many, maturing into great footballers.

And as dannyboy suggested a while back, isn't a good sign that when prophesising about our kids, blokes like Russell, Hartlett, Bryan aren't being mentioned.

I believe the children are our future,
Make them Navy and let them lead the way...

Typical Frank post.Never met you Frank, but obviously a ripper of a bloke.Agree with everything you say,but would also like to add our rookies.Reckon they are an exciting lot.Setanta is awesome in my eyes and is a senior listed player in the waiting. His kid brother Aisake i like also.Doing just as well as Setanta at the same stage for mine.Big Batson is highly promising.Very unusual for one so young at that size to be so co-ordinated.Normally all arms and legs.Excellent long term prospect in my eyes.Becker and the outlaw Jesse Smith i reckon will be also senior list players.Forget about the schoolboy looks, these two play for keeps. They go in hard for the footy, and have skill and run to burn...........Russell,our 1 st draft pick has that bit of class about him,and will come through eventually to be an astute selection.

speaking of co-ordination...this may not be the best time and place to bring it up, but how good is De Luca below his knees? Some fantastic pickups on the run under pressure on Friday night. Was really impressed with his game.

Was amazed he had only kicked 8 goals though.

To my calculations that means he only kicked 7 last year.

I remember Cazzesman (I think it was) mentioning that about DeLuca right back at his first training run for us. ;)

We have some promising youngsters on our list.
Now, if they can all learn to be consistent together, we will have the makings of a good side for the future.

Re: Deluca...one of the most agile 200cm player I have seen play footy for awhile.
His efforts below his knees are awesome.

What I love about Archie is that the opposition never seem to see him coming. They're so concerned with Big Red and Fev that DeLuca can strut down to the forward line and take telling grabs.

His composure under pressure is fantastic too. I always feel confident when he's lining up for goal.

Can you think of anyone else quite like that? I think Spida is pretty agile also.

Yeah, could probably class him in that category as well.
But Spider has been around for awhile now.

As said in the VFL section re: Batson, most blokes who are 19/20/21 and are that height are all arms and legs.
Archie is co-ordinated below his legs and at his age it is a rare thing to have.
