Why would Kouta take $300k when he has another season left on his contract after this one?
Campo wont be signed up till after the season.. he will be given a contract and at age 30 will have to test the water elsewhere.Wont get what he hopes so will have to accept being a one club player...
Whitnall will be given a take it or leave it offer IMO.

Big things are being planned..for next year.
No Corey contract.
No Beauie contract.
No Mott contract.
No Harf contract
Whitnall and Campo will not get anywhere near what theyre getting currently.

Bit of cash to splash, Synbad?
Know of anyone that we may be chasing?

Bit premature, I know, but it's still good to have some sort of idea.

Denis would be looking at a strong key position defender.
A ruckman / forward ...
and in my opinion we need a Luke Ball.. Luke Hodge.. Cooney type.

We bided our time last year because of existing contracts and inflated contracts but this year we can pounce again.

PS, im sure Denis has already put his plans in motion.
You dont do these things at the end of the year.. you have to start early. Its the early bird that gets the worm...well hopefully whoever we get their supporters at their old club will think theyre a worm this time next year.
There is noone better in the business of talking someone into making a move than Denis. He polishes them up very nicely.(Sticks isnt bad either)

Ruckman/forward would be handy.
Can think of a few blokes out there that would be gettable targets.

Agree re: chasing a bloke that is an established midfielder ala Hodge etc.
Perhaps he's worth a shot at pursuing.
You would think if he doesn't do much at all this year, his crunch year, that AC may be looking to offload him.
Pure speculation of course.

I do remember T-Lo being quoted somewhere saying that he almost shat his pants when Denis showed him the highlights video they put together to get him across to Carlton.
Smooth operator is Denis and Sticks.

No way would Clarkeson trade Hodge. Hodge , Ball and Cooney are all contracted and required players but its the type of player im talking about not the specific players.

Oh yeah of course.
Probably one of their better younger players coming through the ranks.
But yeah I understand what you are getting at.

What's Steve Salopek doing in terms of contract negotiations?

Fev will get 400k + Marketing money I suspect.
I reckon itll be a 2 year deal.
He is clearly the face of our club and verging on superstar status. If hes not worth 400k well who at our club is? Kouta, Stevo, Fev

Agree with you CJF, but reckon it'll be 3 years at about $400K a year.

He is clearly worth plenty in marketing terms, and is virtually the "face" of Carlton at the moment.

Agreed, Fev is more the face of Carlton atm than Kouta.

You're right....but I'm yet to be convinced and I've been convinced about Kouta for a while...pure and simple if Brendan (notice how he is rarely called Brendan lately) Fevola performs in 2005 - he is entitled to say "Show ME the MONEY"....if he doesn't and averages 3 goals a game for a season tally of 66...then his salary rises however by a small margin. Synbad is spot on....Carlton is in a strong position here....especially with Scott Camporeale who I would give a further 2 years to at a drastically reduced rate. I'm not convinced re: Pagan and Sticks though...I think we should have nabbed Darren Jolly....obvoiusly that video didn't work, but I'd be happy to make one up for Fev that showed the history of players who didn't cut the mustard after going to another club.

Bidding war looms for Fevola

Quote:
BRENDAN Fevola, the AFL's bargain-basement superstar, is poised to more than double his pay packet.

The Carlton full-forward, who will earn as little as $220,000 this year, has attracted interest from rival clubs prepared to fork out as much as $500,000 a season...

I have faith in Pagan to oversee the best possible outcome for the club. He won't let us down.

The whisper is Fev cant see us winning a premiership under Denis and would want to increase his chances with another club. He will be asking for a trade to either the Hawthorn or Richmond.
Fair dinkum! Why would Fev leave? Were going to attempt to bring more big guns in the side to help him out.
Inside the next couple of years we will be in the mix with the big boys.

He'd pretty keen to join his good friend Browny at Tigerland!

OK. I know I shouldn't ask but I just can't help myself. :D

Weren't you the one telling me (and others) that we cannot draft "star" players by finishing up the ladder and need to finish bottom 2 to get what we want. THAT'S THE WAY THE SYSTEM WORKS. If that is the case, how do you propose we are going to get these stars now that the team is on the up and up.?

I know "dumb, stupid, imbecile, Surrey" cannot understand anything, but I really do get confused by your statements sometimes.
