Pros:
Defence held up as much as could be possibly expected
32k crowd was pretty good given today's weather
Cons:
Kreuzer is contributing SFA. Outgunned by Jacobs. I can only hope Kreuz would kick a goal in a game, Sauce got 3 today. Did we really choose Kreuz/Hampson/Warnock over Sauce?
Casboult is a dumb limited footballer who looks totally frustrated
Kerridge justified the Crows decision to trade to us
Walker & Everitt are struggling
Selection panel needs to consider changing things. It's just not working with the same crew.
Agree with all of this.
The umpiring was extremely frustrating too.
Point 1 - What is the deal with the holding the ball rule now?
So if you grab the ball and within one second you are tackled and you haven't had prior opportunity and a thousand players sit on top of you - that is now holding the ball because you "haven't made a serious attempt to get rid of the ball"? How can you when 10 players are holding you?
Point 2 - Why don't umpires have the courage to pay in the backs when it is against a forward. Adelaide's forwards - Eddie Betts included - got away with murder. Two early goals to Adelaide came from the umpires misinterpreting the in the back rule and both of them involved Eddie Betts. One for Eddie falling over for a contest, and the other one for Eddie pushing a bloke square in the back.
Point 3 - I would just like to see more play through the corridor. And I would like to see forward lines that are opened up. Clear everyone out of the forward line for some plays, kick over the top, have leading forwards for other plays. The leading in the forward line is woeful. It is too boxed in and crowded.
Point 4 - Have they thought of playing Simon White in the forward line? I would imagine he would at least lead and get a mark or two.
Point 5 - The AFL owes a great debt of thanks to Carlton supporters who have turned up to matches week in week out season after season even though they know prior to the match they are going to lose it. The AFL will instead funnel millions of dollars into the Brisbane Lions. This is a club that has within the last 12 years won 3 flags on end... Dollar for dollar what the AFL gives to Brisbane has to be given to Carlton.
