It's a very boring draw for home game members, Rich R1 good then Adel, Melb, Port, GWS (how dull will those games be, GWS last year was the worst game I have ever been to) until we get to R12 Haw.....bloody Coll get the round 2 blockbuster as well.

Have to agree with you that the GWS game last season was so so boring, I think Adelaide & Melbourne games won't be too bad but the Port and GWS home games will suck

It's worse for the Port Adelaide supporter(s), they've got 11 Port home games per year..

I wasn't bored when we played port in 2012 - appalled, but not bored. I'll be happy to be bored if we beat them in 2013

If we cant make the finals after that draw we should just give up
We play 9 games against teams that travel interstate the week before
1 top 8 team twice stkilda on the slide and basket case port twice

We will lose one of each of the games against pies tiges and bombers

Everyone keeps quoting that we play 1 top 8 team twice as a positive. We only played 1 top 8 team twice last year as well.

From a club perspective you have to be happy with the draw however as a fan this fixturing is solely based around the TV rights.

For the third year in a row I had hoped to buy my grandson a membership so I could take him to the games with me and it ends up that we only have three afternoon games -The three afternoon games are Port Adelaide GWS and Richmond. That's really going to get him interested.

Twilight games are too late for young kids and I had incorrectly thought the AFL would be trying to encourage familes. It was a tradition when I was growing up for the family to all go to the footy. It's not worth buying a membership for him for only 3 games - $55.

Depends on how young your grandson is.

I have found that around 4 to 5 years of age - the main point of interest is "hot dogs" and "chips".

From around 6 to 8 years of age - its colour and movement.

From around 8 onwards its about winning - so without wanting to put a "mozz" on it I would have thought Port, GWS and Richmond may be just what the doctor ordered.

From around 13 to 18, it's ooh, look at Bryce's arm muscles. Oh, mum, whos' that (insert opp player) guy? me..the one who just tackled/marked/goaled in spectacular fashion? her..I dunno, that guy there, with the tan, and great hair.
The rest of the game they sit with the phone in front of their face giggling and exchanging texts.
Membership for girly teens? Priceless.

2013 Turps Analysis

Its back again due to popular (well 1 person) demand:

Finally we have been heard. Finally we have a draw we can knowingly wink at each other, nod and smile. Finally we can hold the cup aloft.... flowing with full strength goodness. It is a great day to be blue. I AM THIRSTY.

1 Thursday night pre- Easter block buster. It may be mid strength at the ground, but Holliava will have open arms and frosty mugs
8 Mid strength events - Friday and Saturday Nights
3 Sunday Full Strength games - only 3 nonsense Sunday games for the year.
1 Monday non-event
4 Home Turpsings - regulation
Which leaves 4 Genuine, Boda Fide, Full Strength, leave the kids at home Turpsings. Double the number of last year.
Disclaimer: assumes Saturday 4.40pm games are Full Strength fixtures. Actual turpsings at this age may be 'home in bed by 8.30pm with a thumping headache' events.

Cheers

BBE

7 Monday, May 13 St Kilda Etihad Stadium Away 7.40pm
8 Sunday, May 19 Port Adelaide Etihad Stadium Home 1.10pm
9 Saturday, May 25 Brisbane Lions Gabba Away 7.40pm
10 Saturday, June 1 GWS GIANTS Etihad Stadium Home 1.45pm
.........
16 Saturday, July 13 St Kilda Etihad Stadium Home 7.40pm
17 Friday, July 19 North Melbourne Etihad Stadium Away 7.50pm
18 Saturday, July 27 Gold Coast SUNS Metricon Stadium Away 1.45pm
19 Saturday, August 3 Fremantle Etihad Stadium Home 7.40pm
20 Saturday, August 10 Western Bulldogs Etihad Stadium Home 4.40pm

2 block of runs at shithad stadium will cause us issues, especially the 2nd run with hard surface running into finals.
Wish the AFL would play all teams against each other the first 18 or so rounds, then it would be a better understanding of each clubs run into the finals as well.
Otherwise, we've done ok.
