With Port beating GWS a loss to Essendon***** will entrench us in the bottom 4.

A far cry from the top 4 that was being touted around in the preseason.

I said back in the beginning of this thread back in September "where is the improvement coming from "

This is a result of total incompetence in list management. They over valued the players.
The list manager like most of the supporters were star struck how could a team containing Weiters Saad TDK Cripps Cerra Walsh Harry and Charlie not finish top 4.

Well we are bottom 4 and it's because they failed at the draft and didn't bring in established players to improve the depth and let players go that could of helped with that depth

Bottom 4 … yeah I know that changes if we beat Effendopes… but looking at it and it really sinks in.

We haven’t lost a game with less than 8 out injured. Injuries that tested the robustness of the list.
Tomorrow we go in against Effendopes with 6 out injured

Let’s hope we can stay fit till the last day of Sept. It won’t change the fact Austin’s list isn’t balanced.

Need to stop making injury an excuse. Other teams have similar numbers/quality unavailable and have put Carlton to the sword.

Do you discount a victory tonight given the Junkies woes?

Our list lacks depth with too many young players. Injuries affect us much more than other teams right now.

Except we know that the same guys are going to be injured each year. What plans are devised to make the most of the players we have available?

Why did the club not put Newman on the LTI and replace him with someone fit? A 6 month contract for, example, Parfitt who’s killing it in the WAFL, is AFL harden and from a good system. Seriously, what value in Newman going to be for 6 games

Our depth is shit because we make stupid decisions.

I'm just stating a fact about Carlton. We lack depth. Its been a major issue for us since 2022.

Said it before the season started, that if injury did take hold of us, we would struggle given the plethora of kids. Turns out to be right. We have won all our games when our injury total is less than 8. Fact.

Other teams bat deeper than us. I'm sure that's the consensus in this thread. We didnt replace the quality we delisted Marchbank, Martin, Cuningham, Kennedy, Owies (Best 23 players).

Sure there could be other reasons for our failure, but the only fact we can pinpoint is that our entry into I50 sucks and we can't handle injury because a lack of depth. Can't just dismiss facts. I notice jounos blame injury for losses for some teams who have less missing than Carlton, but dismiss Carlton's injury list, except Montana, as a reason for average skills.

As for the blame for our failure on Stars having their worst game ever, or not trying against GWS, when GWS had Coniglio, Kelly and Callaghan (the GWS were able to cover them due to their fantastic depth in the VFL, see GWS ladder position in VFL) , or blame it on Vossy's Game plan, they are debatable. But of that's what you want to focus on, sure be my guess.

WE should win today given we have less than 8 out, and I've backed the Baggers for that reason. Otherwise, the Blues are hard to trust.

Some choose to fight the fight whilst season is still alive, and others just want to write off the season since round 1. You never know.

I want entertainment and wins. I look forward to that every round. I'm Ok with it. I don't see losses as the end of the world or the end of carlton. I'm proud to be a bagger.

^ yeah, tis sad how checked out we are all getting.

Normally pre-match for us is a flurry of messages seeing who's going, where they're sitting, chat about players...

This year it's more "you going?" "nup" "me either".

that's exactly how my mates and i are. there's more than 20 of us that regularly catch games together. but so far we watched richmond rnd 1, and that's it...

can only be let down so many times by this mob.

I’m hoping we press hard and small forwards are fighting for ball in their half.
