When I hear of Wes Lofts I'm always reminded of an episode of Talking Footy from '99, when John Elliot was the guest.

Mike Sheahan very strangely asked the question if there was any interest from Carlton in the out of contract Kevin Sheedy.

The look on Jack's face was priceless. And his response?

"Sheedy? Aaaw goodness gracious. Wes Lofts, who was a great...influential man at Caarlton - Sheedy SPAT on him when he was playing for Richmond, & the two have never...spoken together again! Sheedy, Sheedy would be the LAST PERSON CAARLTON WOULD EVER CONSIDER EMPLOYING.EVER!!!!"

I love Wes Lofts, he was a man of his times for his times, a great Carlton man.

His passing should now finally mark the time that a man/woman take this club into the 21st century.

A lot can happen in 12 months but sometimes 12 months is not a long time.

Wes would have pissed himself at this week's machinations.

I can see him smiling and shaking his head like the two are meant to go together.

One things for sure, is that Wes would of had a plan after sacking the coach.

Yeah, I reckon that plan would have been "Get another coach and if that doesn't work out get another one quick smart!"

Yeah, not sure Wes would have been comfortably satisfied with terms like "independent selectiom comittee" or "process".
