I think the negativity says more about the demographic in this thread and on this forum than it does the initiative itself.
Very good idea, simply and effectively executed - for now. Everyone knows it'll mean nothing if we don't show up on Sunday, but at least immediately its a good start.
The club has been battered from pillar to post this past fortnight, to point where no one has anything new or constructive to add. So the club sets the agenda with one word.
There's been talk of Mick losing the players, the players having no spirit and all that... well, here they all are on message; the same message.
Solid PR, I say.
Nah... I reckon it's bullshit.
The people I admire in this world are the ones that go about their business quietly and impressively.
Our playing list currently go about their business noisily and unimpressively.
Looking at this initiative in isolation, its a good one.
My issue with the broader PR strategy is just how over saturated we are. After the Essendon* loss we had Sticks do a message to the supporters and a few press conferences here and there.
In the wake of the Melbourne loss we had:
Murph interview by club, Greg Swann on 3AW and SEN, Andrew McKay interview on 3AW, Sticks impromptu press conference out front, Murph at AFL House to launch names on the back of jumpers, Sticks on On The Couch, Mick on Footy Classified, Hendo and Simpson press conference. All talking about the same thing. That was too much.
This twitter engagement? More effective than all that. At least it attempts to create some positivity, harmony and, of course, unity.
