One aspect , although not dwelt on by Mike Sheahan, was that there is a succession plan in place. As in (I assume) when the right person is available, Sticks will step aside. Not said emphatically, but that was my take on it.
Possibly.
But there's only so long you can remain president and still preface it with 'reluctant'.
John, I wasn't trying to rekindle debate on whether he should or shouldn't be Prez. Simply that Sticks intimated his tenure will end when the club gets the person they want to take over.
Nor was I. In fact I reckon that he wouldn't be human if he didn't want to be at the helm over the next few years as we enter our 'window'. He's done the hard yards so why not. Just saying that I don't know how 'reluctant' he actually is right now.
He seems to be doing a decent job anyway, and whatever reservations any of us have, I don't think there'd be a Carlton supporter alive who wouldn't love two Carlton champions in Sticks and Ratts to be at the helm when No.17 lands.
