I had dinner with MLG the other night.
He said that it is actually Mick who is the one holding off on the contract extension.

Mick actually has a succession plan - he wants to step aside at the end of the year and let Redback coach.

MLG said he's been trying to call Redback for 3 weeks, but no return call.
Redback: He asks if you read this, please give him a ring

Ta

Finally some light at the end of the tunnel, cfc finally getting their shit together.

Do you think micky will start crying like a baby after he signs the contract again?
Who will he blame this time for been coerced and bullied like a man child?
Will he stoop to an additional low and involve another family member for a further impetuous decision?
I couldn’t stand any more self-pity by a 60 year old sook?

Well maybe if he concentrates on the game and gives up trying to fortify the coach’s box with A4 paper and tape he can see his outdate game plan been dismantled by every other bloody club and his players looking like retards
All for the sake of mick
Let the micky circus roll on for another embarrassing year

The difference between great past coaches and mick?
They knew when their time was up.

Alas he holds on to past glories and refuses to move on
Oh the humanity

I assume you were in coma during 2014. To say that we had a healthy playing group is ridiculous

from our core group only
Judd
carrazzo
Curnow
kreuzer
and walker

missed significant parts of the year unless you like to use every single injury to validate your argument then we should evaluate every other sides lists and injuries.

the coma was self induced after the games to miss mickys embarrassing post match press conferences

Hawthorn 2009 proved conclusively that injuries do matter. That cannot be disputed.
in 2014 we had many players that were either out or underdone because of post season ops. not only that they were significant players not just depth players

Judd
Kreuzer
hendersom (played injured)
Docherty
Garlett* (injured heart)
Thomas (played injured)

As others have noted the great sides continue to win with injuries. No one is arguing that carlton are a great side. But even the reigning premiers Hawthorn succumbed to injuries in 2009

Injuries only seem to matter when it suits….

That's a good get, but gee it is a really interesting one in-so-much-as it makes me recall how much I loathed hearing Rattan speak.

Also, do collision injuries = monumental bad luck OR poor coaching?

Parkin? Not a great according to BBW. one premiership in 19 years (between 1983 and 2001). And you really think Matthews wasn't pushed?

Different planet...

I particularly like this article, from April last year just after our loss to Melbourne. Touches on Parkin and Malthouse...

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/c ... zqtwa.html

There's even something in it RE: Essendon* "supplements"...

The Blues have now won six of their last 18 games. Their only 2013 wins over subsequent finalists were against Port Adelaide and Richmond, and already this season those results have been reversed.

As has Carlton's recent ascendancy over Essendon*. From late in 2010 until the end of 2012 Carlton won four out of six against the Bombers by margins above 10 goals. One of the other two games was drawn. Essendon*'s only win, in early 2012, came as such a surprise it reportedly had the Blues asking questions about what might be going on in the murky world of “player conditioning”.

great coach and even a better person
Multi grand final appearances and dual premiership coach handing over to Ayres at Adelaide
Reluctantly accepted saints job after receiving an offer too good to refuse
Stabbed in the back by controlling, manipulative, power hungry Thomas not even one year into that job
I bet you’ve got your own spin though

no, I agree with all that but to say he retired is just a load of cock. He wanted to coach. In truth it could be argued that MM and Blight's actions are very similar — MM also received an offer 'too good to refuse' but where Blight is the saint MM is damned for the same choice. Only difference between their actions is that as yet Mm has not been 'stabbed in the back" but if you had the power I am sure it would be Et tu Brute?
