Crameri had 11 shots at goal against us. Today, not very many.

Another indication of how defensively poor we were all over the ground.

Essendon* didn't chalk up a mark in their inside 50 till midway through the third quarter.

Just wasn't a day for tall forwards.

The hadn't beat us the previous 4 times J&tK?

I'm still haunted by their 3 year hoodoo over us....I firmly believe they are massively overrated and should be easy beats most times we play them....they have no real weapons....maybe Watson and thats about it....They are a team that only knows how to play one way....so there is no guesswork involved when you play them....if you take the game to them and block their run thru the corridor they are toast....but in any case its all about Friday night now....4 and 1 and back on track....or 3 and 2 and things would not have seemed to have improved much....pivotal game....we should win it comfortably....SHOULD....

OMG! Who the hell are we?!!?
We'll be lucky to get within 5 goals. Watch freo really ramp up the pressure on Friday and we've shown the entire footy world that we cant cope. There were simply no excuses for us against the scum on Saturday. None whatsoever! And we blew it...

Judd, Murphy and then not much else in the middle. Premiership teams have 8 to 10 midfield groups that bat deep. Very deep. We ain't got it and we ain't contenders

Judd, Murphy, Robinson, Simpson, Gibbs, Scotland, Curnow, Carrazzo when he returns.
It was as good as any before the Essendon* loss Marci. That doesnt change after a week. We'll be contenders, we just wont win every game.

What irks me BV is that we come out before the game saying how we have matured, we can cope with expectation, we are prepared for those filthy scumbags and what do we dish up? @#$%&! tripe!

Robinson - geez, he'd wanna start improving disposal efficiency!
Simpson - good mid & accumulator, would be close to elite if he could finish in front of goal
Gibbs - not in the mid enough and at this stage of his career I am wondering why the reluctance to play him there? Ratts has no confidence in him?
Scotland - lucky he is still going well at 31. Near the end though
Curnow - ala Robbo. Midfield footsoldier with erratic disposal
Carrazzo - shame about injury. Always been a fan. He will lose a lot of upper body conditioning with this injury which will not hold him in good stead when he returns

BV, to be honest, we need more then that list and even those mentioned above you could probably only mount a strong argument for 4 of those tops. It needs to bat deeper, have more quality and that quality needs to stretch right through to number 6 or 7 of the group. Ours gets to 3, maybe 4 at best

The thing that really annoys me is how fast Carlton "supporters" jump off at the first sign of trouble.

I think we have the depth to cover the injuries which is good, and we travel well so I think we will bounce back.

The boys would be desperate to show the footy world the Essendon* game was a once off.

It did on Saturday!

I haven't been this livid about a loss since our other capitulation to these cauliflower round 13 2009 and previous to that round 7 2005 against the tigers. Sheer blood-boiling anger!\
I still haven't recovered and its Wednesday and those pricks suffered a 1 point loss!!! I'm furious

Sounds like you are doing it tough Marciblue.

The only thing that bothers me is the flaky nature of our midrange players. 8 times out of 10 they put in servicable games but everynow and then a shocker occurs.

There is no excuse for last week but our performance wasn't helped by selecting a slow side and then having it made even slower by the early injuries. You can try overlook that if you like but you have to admit the injuries didnt help.

Make the big calls after round 10. There are a number of form and fitness cycles to go through before we get a full reading on our season.

For the record i dont think we will beat Freo in WA but still think we will get to 8-2 after 10.

You don't smash Collingwood with just two midfielders.

Think I prefer arrogant supporters to the whiny ones who turn and act they've been castrated by a loss.

Amazing that some are still going on about this match.

we pants Essendon* the last 2 times we played them - they would have come into this game angry but also vulnerable

if we had be on and put ourselves ahead by 3 in the 2nd quarter they would have started to doubt; we did not and he rest is history

Its a wonder you're counting Judd in our midfield Marci, he was washed up in the pre-season

We are all hurting. Not least the players. The one thing that has given me some comfort (and it hasn't got much copy) is that we had no bench for nearly the whole game on a relatively warm day. It's not an excuse, but it had to be a factor. Blokes looked out on their feet before halftime.

The bottom line is let's see how we perform on Friday before writing our midfield or team off.

Injuries aren't an excuse.....unless you're the Hugely Brave Bombers missing the enormous talents of some bloke whose name I can't remember.

The only really disappointing thing on the weekend was our lack of fight.
We should have flown the flag for our team mate and defended each other.
I'm sure they were reminded of that once or twice during the week.
This week we start again and regain some lost respect.

Don't forget that both Walker and Lucas can rotate through the midfield.
Yarran goes alright rebounding from defence as well.
