The last few years have landed us,
Weitering, McKay, Charlie, Cunners, SOJ.
SPS, Fisher, McCreadie, Polson, Williamson, Kerr.
Marchbank, Plowman, Pickett, Phillips.
Not sure Sumner and Lamb will make the cut.
If we can land Hopper this trade period and best available for our first pick, blue skies alright..

OTC - Jono Brown says we're frontrunners to land Kelly if he decides to leave

Wouldn't put too much stock in it though. No doubt just pedaling the "Carlton pilfering GWS list" narrative.

I'm not sure... I've never known Brown to make big statements just to create a stir

It's so exciting isn't it?

We might not need to delist 12 players in an off season for the first time in years.

Add Hopper and Rayner/Fogarty to our list and assuming natural development for McKay and Kerr we're all set with a competitive side for the next 10 years.

Why are people talking about a Hopper so much?
Has he put contract talks on hold?
Wishful thinking?
If we land him, I imagine we can kiss our first pick goodbye so counting him AND the first rounder is a glass brimming over attitude.

The clamour for Hopper is curious.

So far I've seen him play one good game and be injury prone.

Happy to be wrong, but I'll need to see more before I become a believer.

Nice to remember Cunningham was obtained by Blues from pick received from Richmond for Yarran :smoking:

Yep agree Brown rarely makes statements like that. If we were to land a player Josh Kelly is the one (top 10 player in the league) just worried we would have another C Judd giving up the farm scenario. Hopefully we can keep our 1st pick and do something with what we get for Gibbs if he goes and whatever else. GWS still owe us for taking Palmer off their hands!!

Didn't they give us pick 134?

Overs I reckon.

You'd think that if we were to land Hopper, it would cost us our first round pick.
Kelly would cost a lot more.

BUT, would we be happy with some form of trade that sees us getting Kelly but losing our first round pick, Kruezer, Gibbs and one of the picks we get from Adelaide for Gibbs?

e.g.
We end up with: Kelly + 2nd round pick for Gibbs
GWS ends up with: Two 1st round picks (ours ~pick 4 + Adelaide's ~pick 16...) + Kruezer
Adelaide ends up with: Gibbs (but loses a 1st & 2nd round pick)

?
Alternatively, would we be happy to land Hopper & Kelly for Gibbs, Kruezer, Casboult and all 1st & 2nd round picks we have or get through the Gibbs/Kruezer/Casboult trades?

So Kreuzer, Gibbs and pick 4 for Kelly and a late second rounder?

That's the comp's form ruckman, one of our club's two best mids and the fourth best 18yo in the country for Kelly and pick 32?

Is your real name Ben Dover?

Personally, I'd be inclined to trade Gibbs for 2 first round picks or possibly one first round and a second round (esp if one or both of these get upgraded by Adelaide before passing onto us). And then I'd look at trading Kruezer for a high 2nd round pick or better (or free agency deal if he's up for that which nets us a first round pick...).
And I'd bank as many high draft picks as possible this year.
Then look to trade for a Kelly or similar in a year or two when our first picks are likely to be a bit lower and the additions will be the final piece(s) of an otherwise complete team.
However, if Kelly & Hopper are gettable now, then we might have to give up a fair bit to secure them before our ideal timing scenario.
But I agree what I suggested above is overs. But its SOS's opinion that counts...

Please stay the hell away from the trade table. That is a horrendous scenario. 2 first round picks and Kreuzer for Kelly... Seriously? That's a Judd type trade. Judd had won a Brownlow, premiership, norm smith, and was hands down the best player in the comp when we did that. And even then it's questionable whether we made the right move.

Kelly has done pretty much nothing yet other than show a heap of potential and play half a good season.

I'd rather keep Kreuzer, take 2 first rounders to the draft, and throw the Kelly money at a free agent in the next couple of years who won't cost us anything trade wise

I think the calibre of potential free agency gets/trades this year are stronger than next year's. And next year's draft is stronger than this years.

With that said, perhaps we should consider going for a free agent this year (with this year's picks/players) and holding onto next year's first.

my view is to stick to the draft and recruit wat we need (mids mids) kelly will cost to much $ and our picks.

Kelly is pretty good. He might be the only guy available I'd swap two picks for
