I had to take yesterday off work. I was so stressed and knew I wouldn't be able to handle the teasing. I am so pissed off with Fevola for doing that to me.
It’s weird you know. Over the last 5+ years I’ve copped so much from so many over many Carlton incidents, beltings, etc, but when Fev plays up, or is deemed to play up, it seems that the average guy in the street really doesn’t care. Most laugh at it, maybe shake their head. Most can’t understand what all the fuss is about. Most aren’t that shocked that a footy player was pissed at the Brownlow. And most wonder if we really need to hear about it. I guess that’s the trouble with Fev – he gets away with it continually, most take him for the larrikin he probably thinks he is, and most adore him just as much afterwards. Like I said in an earlier post, not unlike Shane Warne.
My wife is involved in the media industry and saw the footage and heard the gossip. She and most of her collegues thought that his behaviour seemed 'normal' and looked at me and said ' you have that much fun [as fev did] when you're excited'. The other thing she said is that 'it's a party, a celebration, so why not?'
I too look at his antics and know I get excited and know how to have a good time, but I'm not the Face of a Club, nor am I representing any institution when I go out and party. So I get away with it. Fev just has to realise that he is in the spotlight and I think he does. He can't help himself, so imo he should control his drinking consumption. Easier said than done.
Alcohol is an acceptable drug in our society hence why he isn't being chatised like Cousins (who was never caught). It's not Fevola's responsibility to determine the standards our society accepts, that's up to society. There's no law against him vomitting, jumping on stage, mucking around with his pelvis and swearing in a private function.
I don't like what he does when he gets caught by the media, but who am I to judge him?
Right or wrong, I wish I could have been partying as hard as he was at the Brownlow; probably would have joined him. My bad. Whose bad?
