I think what this shows is there is a cultural problem and it is still there, getting rid of Fevola hasn't eradicated the problem alltogether

So the club need to find out why the culture is still there, how it exists, and then eradicate it

If that means getting rid of these 4 guys, then so be it

Houlihan won't be part of our next Premiership anyhow, and Walker's always injured and turns it over too much by foot

Robbo is a promising youngster, and Betts is a starting 18 player (but Garlett and Yarran can take his spot)

So really, all 4 are expendible - so maybe you just try and get the best deals you can for them at the trade table (could be a good way to get picks in compromised drafts!)

OUT Houlihan (who cares anyhow)
OUT Betts (in Yarran/Garlett)
OUT Walker (in Lucas on a wing)
OUT Robbo (in ?? on a F Flank)

I've had a @#$%&! gut full of this shit.

i've just emailed the club outlinning my concerns.

4 different players, in 3 seperate incidents - some of which are repeat offenders, all after a supposed club sanctioned booze cruise.

how dumb are the people running my club?

EXACTLY MY POINT ALL ALONG!

The CFC are stupid if they thought that getting rid of Fev would solve the problems. It was all Fev's fault? :screwy: What Tripe.

I predicted this would happen the day Fevola left the club. I just didn't think it would happen so soon.

For me:-

STICKS -
Must stand down as president. He is as much to blame as Fevola or Betts or whoever.

JUDD -
Must stand down as captain. Seriously guys, he's a great player and all, but he's off-field leadership just HAS TO BE QUESTIONED. Same crap happend in Perth.

BETTS -
Sacked. He's had he's chances. I love the guy, but christ, how many times can we be so forgiving.

ROBBO-
Counseling. Right Away. The kid has issues.

Walker & Houlian are lucky to get away with a $5k fine. IMHO, it should have been double and 3 match suspensions.

THIS CLUB IS BECOMING AN JOKE AND AND EMBARRASSMENT!

And as Synbad once said........... "The Fish Rots at the Head!"

The problem I have with blaming the club is that 40 other players didn't get into strife.

I don't believe that some of our players get pi55ed at club sanctioned events.

This is about self control and discipline, which 4 of them seem to lack.

Given Robbo's hyperactiveness, he should never touch alcohol IMHO.

so 10% of our lads can't handle their drink - the problem is if it was the club that supplied the alcohol then it's plain and simply irresponsible by the club for supplying booze in the first place.

just dumb!

Ryan, I don't think the club mentioned getting rid of Fev would cure the bad culture.

Whilst I don't disagree re Judd, I don't think you can lay the blame at his feet for what happened in WA or here. WA's problems were there before Judd arrived.

Collingwood player Scott Pendlebury wants to 'move on' after attack in Lakes Entrance

Quote:
Lakes Entrance locals have claimed that Pendlebury's group was involved in a series of incidents in the lead-up to the fracas - including claims by a woman that a pot of beer was tipped over her.

Sharna, who said she was laughed at after being drenched in beer, believes an injustice has been played out.

She said Pendlebury's group was obnoxious and one of them pushed a woman on the pavement, leading to the fight.

"What happened to me had nothing to do with the fight," she said.

"It wasn't a little spill. It was the whole drink over my head.

"I don't know why he did it. He thought it was hilarious. He nudged his friend and they both started laughing."

Sharna also said one of the men groped a woman's breast.

Several callers told the Herald Sun the group was abusive and made lewd remarks toward women.

Pendlebury returned to training on Monday showing the scars of a wild night in Lakes Entrance after a fishing trip with family and friends.

"The licensees have told the club their behaviour was exemplary," a club spokesman said.

He rejected claims Pendlebury misbehaved.

This story is not a "massive" deal by any stretch of the imagination, but the total lack of respect shown to the club is really starting to stink.....

FFS if you want to get trashed and act like an ass, get a house out in the middle of nowhere and carry on where you can't bother anyone. I just feel like these guys have a little bit too large of an impression of thier own self importance to give a shit.

I was really hoping yesterday that this didn't come out, but I'm glad it has now.

At least the club has no option but to take action and make some changes which are necessary to move closer to premiership No. 17.

There is a bunch of talented, but dumbarse, players at the club who need to decide what they want to do from here.

The club needs to make a stand against this bullshit, but ultimately it's the player's level of passion for the game that will determine what they do with this playing group.

I hope the club comes down hard on them all and makes them an example after Fev got shown the door. They need to show the new additions and draftees at the club that we are not taking any more shit and are in the business of winning premierships.

As I said earlier, Ratts, Sticks, Swann and Judd need to front the media and the general public and address this issue. Hiding behind media statements and newspaper articles isnt going to solve the problem. It's simple really. Players need to be told that either they do things our way, or they're out of here. We need our own NO D*CKHEADS POLICY!! Players don't need 'education programs' to teach them that they shouldn't drink if they know they act like a knob when they;re on the booze. If no common sense can be displayed, then the offending dumbarses can just bugger off to the VFL or to suburban footy where they can drink til their hearts content...

You'd think that any sort of 'leadership group' would get together over their 'annual leave' period and have a bit of a chat about this and work out what they want to do.

You can punish blokes externally and fine them etc etc or whatever. But the biggest punishment comes from the playing group. If they are shunned and made to train with Bullants or whatever the 'leadership group' decides then it will have more of an effect.

I think this 'leadership group' needs to work out exactly where as a team they want to be. Also-rans getting paid ridiculous amounts of money to run around kicking a footy or a tight unit that wants to be succesful. At the moment the perception seems to be that they have settled for being happy being at a big club and winning a few games, maybe making the finals. There is no push to go any further. Kind of like getting a job in the public service. All cruisey and sweet, good money, good conditions of service, but no real effort expended or required apart from a basic level of competence. Except around performance review time.

I'd hope they want to go that step further, push themselves and become a premiership team. It needs to start with our visy green environmental ambassador mongolian lentil pot loving captain IMHO. Time to earn those dollars he's getting I reckon.

Sometimes its hard to be a woman
Giving all your love to just one man
You'll have bad times
And he'll have good times
Doing things that you don't understand
But if you love him you'll forgive him
Even though he's hard to understand
And if you love him
Oh be proud of him
'Cause after all he's just a man
Stand by your man
Give him two arms to cling to
And something warm to come to
When nights are cold and lonely
Stand by your man
And tell the world you love him
Keep giving all the love you can
Stand by your man
Stand by your man
And show the world you love him
Keep giving all the love you can
Stand by your mannnnnnnnnnn...........

..talk of sackin' players is a bit much, though i'm upset with all four boys quite a bit too.. .. ..of the four players, one poster mentioned them all bein' expendable.. ..if sacking were the order of the day, i'd spare Betts before any other.. ..currently our best forward, 38 goals crumbin' from Fev's scraps.. ..highest assists at our club, top bracket across the afl.. ..can play deep forward, hff and stints thru midfield.. ..not replaceable [a.t.m]..

Surely this is Wayne Hughes' fault? Why is a players ability to hold their alcohol not part of the screening process before we recruit them? We should be taking any potential new recruit out to get pissed and see how much he can drink and how he acts whilst drunk. Clearly, thats the best solution.

I am at a loss about all of this.

Let's say my name is Mitch Robinson. I go out and get tanked and stuff my shoulder up. Don't you think I would learn from that? Nah... I just saddle up and do it all again the next day and cop a shiner for my troubles. I mean fair dinkum, what sort of education program is going to help someone like that?

The Club needs a major change in culture. Personally I would like to see the start of that being the removal of the President. The culture is way too 1980's for my liking, and sooner or later the buck needs to stop with him.

Another point to come out of this... maybe the fact that Fevola was high profile actually masked a lot of the goings on with a number of our other players? Seems strange to me that they only start to 'act up' after he has gone. I suspect his media profile deflected from a lot of the other clowns and morons who choose to disgrace this jumper on a regular basis.

Agreed.

I think there has been a lot of overreactions in this thread, but I do think it is clear that the club needs to get tougher. It would be great if the playing group drove the change, but I'm not holding my breath, sadly.

On Judd, getting all the guys to eat a salad is one thing, but some hard words and actions about this off field shit is well overdue.
