You may have missed it Surrey, but we were still playing home games at PP when we had our darkest moments from 2002-2004, which largely stemmed from the 1997-2001 period, all while Collingwood were raking it in at the G and Essendon* stitched up a great deal at Docklands.
You're right in diagnosing some of our problems. Its your solution thats off target.
My understanding is that Essendon* may be competing with Carlton and want out of Etihad and move to the MCG.
The "darkest moments" have well been discussed on TC, which relates to the administration at the time not Princes Park per se.....
Essendon* have no chance of getting out of their contract before it expires in 2025. Carltons expires, Essendon* will be reneging. Good luck with that lol.
Then it comes down to whose games get moved from the 'G to the dome, and that means Hawthorn and Melbourne might get games moved to Etihad. After 2014 theres still a 40 game minimum requirement at the stadium.
North play 9 home games a year at the Dome - 9
Essendon* play 7 home games at the Dome = 7
Bulldogs play 10 home games at the Dome = 10
Richmond currently play 1 home game at the Dome = 1
St Kilda play 10 home games a year at the Dome = 10
And Assuming Carlton move most of their games to the MCG that leaves us with 3 to play at Etihad, and that would wrap up our interstate opposition nicely.
