Clearing space in the Salary Cap?

I wonder if we still have to include his $ in the cap, given he's been sacked. Either way it won't be much, or at least I should say... I HOPE it won't be much.

I can't say I am surprised nor particularly disappointed. Turning up to preseason training out of shape two years in a row says a lot.

And by cutting him a year early we've got an opportunity to get another kid in who actually wants a chance.

He's been sacked, I doubt he'll get any $$for the rest of the year...I expect this has come after a number of warnings.
Spot on, it's one more space, some $$s and another go at the drafty for next year...only way to look at it

If he's in breach of team & league policy -- which cfc reported he was -- we don't owe him anything and his numbers come off the cap at the end of this year, I believe.

Praise the Lord.

It was mentioned in the press conference that the club will sit down with his management and come to an agreement with his contract. I am guessing he may get paid out some of it.

I will have a crack. Mick likes a bit of depth in the reserves and thought having a bloke who has played a few games at AFL level that we could call upon if required would be better than a kid at pick 100 who wouldn't stand a chance.

Or Mick thought he could turn him around. Reckon he has a bit of an ego when it comes to this.

Or mick just got it plain wrong.

Another fine first round selection by the Blues. Not only an average player but clearly a dumb bloke. Hard to imagine what goes through these guys heads. Is he ever in his life going to get a job as good as he has just been sacked from. The club statement refers to him having a young family.......and yet he appears to have been acting like a naughty 12 yr old.

Mick got it wrong? Is that your version of a balanced view. Mick didn't recruit him. Mick tried to trade him. As for making the 2 years the central issue on all this. How do you know he wouldn't have walked in the draft if we offered him one or if we turned him around he would have tried to go psd to WA after 2014? - Get your facts straight

happens when the club is lost for what to do.
draft wrong
dont know if they should delist him or keep him
sign him on 2 years

that is why i dont buy a membership... theres a chance we might have to pay this guy out... unless we show he brought the game into disrepute..

why should i contribute towards these things??

and theyre piling up

I'm not sure if this is a serious question? But anyway here goes: our crack List Management committee thought they would outsmart the WA teams, who for five seconds half way through last year entertained the thought of signing Bootsma. When the brains trust got wind of this they hatched a cunning plan whereby they signed Bootsma to a two year extension, apparently on the premise that we could send him over via trade rather than suffer the indignity of releasing a 1st rd pick for nothing at the expiration of his rookie contract. And as we now know from Kreuzer talks at board level - avoiding embarrassment seems to be the overriding basis for any major decision at Carlton. Bless.

Of course, once the Eagles and Dockers had a good look at Bootsma (given today's news - probably a look at a lot more of Bootsma than we knew at the time) they quickly worked out that not only were they uninterested in signing him, but they were sure as sh*t not interested in paying for the privilege.

These are the sorts of excellent decisions that are made when the bloke responsible for the pick (ie recruitment) also sits on the committee which makes decisions of this nature. I mean - who needs a dedicated list manager when the best minds at your club are able to deliver these kinds of results. My god.

If everyone who sent snapchats of their Johnson was fired unemployment would be at 60%.

Josh always struck me as someone with a bit of ability, but not the appetite to make it at the top level. He probably really enjoys playing footy, just not the professional and demanding nature of it.

Sacking him is a convenient solution to a problem, though.

Assuming every man has done it that means that 20% of women have Johnsons

I think what he is saying is why not let him walk if he had all these issues?

Can't imagine Mick being talked into signing a player he didn't want. Can anyone imagine that??
