No real surprise. Saw this coming.
Pros:
Charlie Curnow, Cuningham and MacReadie. MacReadie already looks he's surpassed Plowman.
Few nice glimpses from Pickett.
Cons:
Our top secret game plan of handballing to a player ahead of the play. I know we're trying to be more offensive, but just can't see handballing through traffic suits our list. We're not quick enough or skilful enough. And our midfield midgets simply can't absorb tackles and then release to the spare player. The great irony is that despite all the hush-hush opposition players (like Armitage) after 1 week had it sorted out and could explain what we would try and do. Looks like the players have already started to lose confidence in the plan. Not a good sign at all. If we persist with this approach, it's going to drive the few supporters still watching up the wall.
The other tactical ploy of being outnumbered in defence. Not quite as bad as last week, but still an issue.
Absolutely butchered the ball when in space, especially going into our forward line.
Very few Carlton supporters at our 'home' game. Not particularly surprising given the 'closed doors' over summer, and the team we actually picked.
The telecast. Basically it was the St Kilda show. With Nicky Dal Santo chatting to his ex-teammates. And having to endure a St Kilda playing rabbitting on through the whole 3rd quarter. Usually this opportunity is given to a player from the home team. But either Fox decided to make an exception on behalf of St Kilda. Or perhaps even more likely, the club wasn't willing to co-operate and provide a player to do it.
The umpiring was putrid.

How many St Kilda goals were the direct result of umpire intervention? We're bad enough not to have to compete against the umpires as well.
