It was shit, yes, could not agree more, but lets not waste too much time on it. Season 2009 is on our doorstep, we are now in the home straight, the slate is clear, the potential is limitless, lets focus on the positive and have a little smile as the thought of what may be, slowly turns into a reality.

Happy Friday (under the circumstances) to you all.

Good point BM.

So that's the kick you are all getting so worked up about.........WTF ?!?!?!?!

Look I hate the fact teamates had a go at each other as much as the next person, but to hang, draw and quater a player for a "dog act kick" (that was soft and not in his ribs as has been reported by an "eye witness") is a bit over the top.

Yes he needs to pay for his indiscretion;
Yes he needs to apologise to Cameron and his family;
Yes he needs to apologise to the team and coaching staff;
Yes he needs to apologise to the supporters who have been there through thick and thin;

But.....this can be turned around.

THIS IS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD.

If you are in doubt look at the footage a few times....think about it a bit and....move on.

My view of the incident from the footage is that Carlos and Cloke were both wrestling, probably with Carlos being the agressor (He seemed to move from behind Cloke to infront of him in the grapple). Cloke moved his arm to get above Carlos' shoulder as Carlos was pushing him towards the ground, and as Cloke made his way up to his feet Carlos' smacked him in the head and then kicked him on the ground in a sign of contempt.

Sure the kick may not have broken Cloke's hip, but it's the lack of respect shown to a fallen team mate, and the fact that he smacked his team mate as he was getting to his feet, which are the reason's the guy should be shown the door ............. I really can't see how you could argue that Carlos' hitting Cloke is any less serious than Hall decking Staker, and some could argue it's worse cdnsidering it was a team mate in an intra club match, and if Hall decided to stick the boot in afterwards it would have been 12+ game suspension not the 7 which he was probably lucky to get .............

How are the boy's supposed to respect a guy who goe's out and knocks out one of their own ??? If this was an opponent that he knocked out then the next time the 2 teams met EVERY ONE ON THE OPPOSITION SIDE WOULD BE HAVING A CRACK AT HIM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I threw the baby out with the bath water prior to viewing the video.

Don't get me wrong it is bad...but he should be suspended by the club for 6 weeks for it. Not sent home.

But more importantly:

What is Cloke's side of the story?

What is the prior relationship between Cloke/ Santa?

What did Cloke do to provoke Santa?

All will be revealed.

I was referring to the kick.

I reckon there were probably mitigating circumstances and provocation before the hit.

I don't care if Cloke pulled his hair - it may have even been accidental contact but that is no justification for kicking Cloke . The punch was bad enough.

There are lines you don't cross in a team, and he's crossed one of them today.

It's all just a smoke screen to allow Mitch Robinson to fly under the radar, after all reports playing a blinder in the intra club.

Either that, or it's a cunningly thought out plan to get masses of free advertising for our sponsor.

Setanta was just showing Cam the difference between "Craic" and "Crack".

I may be a bit biased (see picture to the left - massive Setanta fan) but having seen it I don't think it's an offence to be hung, drawn and quartered for.

Professional - no
Embarassing (both Setanta and the club) - yes
Worse than you or I ever did to siblings growing up - probably not

Deserves the colloquial (or literal if Ratt's wants to re-enact the incident) kick in the arse and Setanta to understand how far back he's put himself in the running - but that it's all of his doing and if he's to turn it around it's up to him.

Saw video, not a great look.

You just wonder if Cam grabbed more than his jumper just before the hit - hair, ear? Can't make it out.

The symbolism is ordinary, but the kick to his butt was not meant to do "damage". Cam has enough there to ease the blow.

On balance he should go, but history may be kinder to Carlos once all the facts come out. He seemed a very angry unit as he was walking away.

Wow - some of you clearly have never played footy at any level before...I've come across this in country footy and in the ammos - and even on the squash court at the highest level...on all fronts - the bloke doesn't play again. Not because the coach and committee give him the sack - but the players simply don't want a bar of him...same should happen here. If Setanta stays on the list - he won't be wearing navy blue.

Exactly.
A contemptuous toe to Cloke's ring may not do a lot of damage physically but it's destroyed Setanta's standing with his teammates.

if you would get 12 weeks from the AFL for doing this to an opposition player, how much should you get for doing it to a teammate? Sack him, I'm just waiting for his supporters to somehow blame either Cloke, Lappin or Ratten, afterall, everything else has been their fault to this point.

I would be interested to hear from AIRCAV, BlueMark, et al how they would handle something like this if it happened in their respective military units.

I suspect it would be something similar to the old days before media agencies 'wasted' their cameras and video reels down at a club training.
